Yes Denis, it was common practice for a barrier wagon to be at the front and rear of the oil trains-to “protect”the contents of the wagons from sparks out of the exhausts of the locomotive, The containers were empty.

While looking for something else,I found a spare MIR MX two axle wagon kit, which was turned into a barrier wagon for the oil tank rake of wagons, Complete with a 20’ weathered container which was placed on the wagon-it has now been added to the oil liner-I am delighted with the outcome, it brings back memories of the real train I used to work from Claremorris twenty years ago.

€229.95 for a DCC ready locomotive and add roughly €100.00 for the sound chip = €330.00, how times have changed-like George has said I’m glad I bought my ones back in 2007,add a speaker and a sound chip will be cheaper for me.

Ryanair’s 737 MAX EI-HGY is seen here banking to the right over Tara junction MPD shortly after taking off from the local airport on a flight to Liverpool.

While working the 07:00 Athlone-Dublin Heuston service railcars 2607+2608 collided with some animals on the line, While no damage was done the smell was unbearable so the units were taken out of service and sent for washing and cleaning to Tara junction MPD…here we see the railcars being power washed earlier. In the last photo-Ryanair's 737MAX EI-HGY is seen banking to the right shortly after taking off from the local airport while en route to Liverpool.

Yes....... having worked the real thing I can confirm what Beano has stated is correct......

This guy does an excellent scrap yard...........
-
I would go with a permanent way yard-extend the siding that the wagons are parked on and have a ballast loading point there and the above as Broithe has already stated.

Scrap yard?

Sad to hear this news along with the Hatton's closure, I first attended Warley in 2012 and returned there eight times-last year being the now final visit, I really enjoyed my visits, I hope the new Model world Live will be a successful replacement in April, Roll on Model rail Scotland, lets hope this one continues.....

The year is 1994 and we see the transition between the CIE and IR livery’s ongoing, Recently repainted into IR livery locomotive 049 is seen here departing from the fuel oil siding at the MPD on Tara junction.with some empty oil wagons-a few hours later the laden train returns and is propelled back into the siding for discharge into the underground tanks, while 049 is uncoupled and stabled for fuel, oil and water at the MPD.
