    Given the pricing strategy of Shapeways in recent years, wouldn't that just make the models unaffordable?

    I think the J26 tank would be an interesting comparison with the old TMD/SSM design, and castings for it might be available as a pack from Des at SSM. And yes, the facility to build it in 21mm gauge is important. Wonder what the price would be? There's nothing else in that list that interests me, I'm afraid, unless Roger has a sudden hankering to produce a K1/K1a, 400 or 500 class!

    He can take a while to reply, partly because the e-mail software he uses isn't exactly the best. That said, sometimes he happens to be online and replies within minutes. I've had an e-mail from him in the last couple of weeks as he is ready to send me that J15 kit....which I now have to find "near enough" wheels for....

    Managed to acquire a set of the correct P4 profile wheels. The axles are to be replaced with longer ones appropriate for 21mm gauge.

    Sorry for your trouble. To most of us who never met him, news like this is always a shock. Ken provided a number of very helpful drawings and measurements to help the construction of my SSM kit for the 800 Class 4-6-0, making the engineering puzzle that bit easier to understand. I'll always be grateful for his knowledge.

    If you're building it for 21mm gauge, P4 profile tyres will reduce the touching flanges problem somewhat.

    The light makes it look nickel-silver, and the instructions look like the later ones. SSM rather than TMD?

    Quite funny how there's two generations of the same kit. Same thing with the J26 / E tank. There are two versions of the chassis - original brass, and later n/s - and some chassis parts from one cannot fit the other, due to the wheelbases coming out slightly different.

    For everything else, there's virtue-signalling.

    The Dundrum starter signal has a lattice post, and might be better represented by the kit from Studio Scale Models, kit ref. S12. The only disadvantage is that you'd have to build it, but it's a lot closer to the photo than the GWR signal.

    The only real difference between these and the Lego couplings is that the Lego mounting arms were rigid, with the magnet discs pivoted horizontally, so they didn't drop unlike the ChrisDraw ones.
