That is a good looking build, very clean and tidy. An etch-primer is a very good idea but try to keep it off any resin parts as I am not sure about a chemical reaction.

Unless you want or do collect that sort of thing it seems a lot of money. But the condition looks good except for that one coach with no bogies.

Good work David, your work has reminded me I have a stash of nickle silver sheet that should be turned into something good before it crumbles to dust! Thats how long I have had it.

I found several photos of Bord na Mona workers and trains carrying peat in my copy of"Father Brown"s trains and Railways" by E.E.O"Donnell. I liked the photos because many of them show people and train crew just going about their business. Some of which I find very moving every time I look at them. Riversuir 226; they are an easy project and I can almost guarantee you will not look at a six-wheel coach in the same light again!

Sorry to hijack the thread Patrick, yes my B2a is based on a bachman B1 bought off flea bay well It is the worst running of my split frame locos and I had been doctoring it up and got better running but for some odd reason the rear driver sometimes climb the rail and she took a dive! there may be a picture here. Mike

Look forward to your tutorials Patrick, just one point to remember for those contemplating an open top base board. Models do come off the track and they will go down the hole in the open top, only happened to me once, that was yesterday and my GSR B2a plunged 18" onto some shelves below. The shelves won!! and I now have some severe repair work to do. I shall fix some sort of netting to stop this happening again. And yes I do really like the open top concept it"s worked for me for several years. Mike

I checked the Wiki site,interesting, but what a surprise; a GWR pay check with my old number. When I got made up to a fireman my number became 157. At Banbury you asked for your pay check at the booking on clerks window then presented it to the pay clerk at another special window that was only used for paying out and your cash came in a small tin! How Victorian but rather pleasant counting your cash.

Wow! I seem to have asked one of" those" sort of questions! Thanks for all the thoughts and opinions; before I do surgurey I shall await Leslies expert! It was the tender section of Locomotives of the GSR that prompted the question, there seem to be tantalizing glimpses of the front bulkhead area but no detail. And having read how parsimonious The GSR was it made me wonder. Mike

Leslie, I do not know Michael but I feel we have a connection through the brilliant models he makes for you and all of us. His skills inspire others to push their "envelope" and hone their own talents. Does any one have a drawing or know of a photograph of how the front of the coal space was arranged on the type E tenders that ran behind the B2/ 400 class 4-6-0"s? There seems to be a bulkhead behind the tool boxes but did that have a tunnel to coal doors or just an open space like the GWR tenders? The coal slope in my photos suggests the latter but that seems an odd arrangement. Mike

New Irish Lines has just hit the doormat(Tues am) just browsed through I think its excellent and the loose leaf drawings are a real bonus.
