  1. Patrick, I love your layout; the arch the drapes they just take the eye into the scene and the less is more ethos of the track plan, walk around control with your train. Brilliant=D

    New Irish Lines

Mine arrived today and it was worth the wait.
  3. Weshty, you took the words out of my mouth. The progress on this layout is inspirational, makes my efforts look a bit feeble, please keep posting.
  4. Minister, the might have beens is a brilliant idea:tumbsup:
  5. Very nice video Kieran, I think you should give us the lowdown on where the 4P ends and the W begins because it looks seamless to me. A really well executed conversion. The standards on this group just get higher=D
  6. Rapid progress, I like the Woodland scenics foam underlay, wish I had used it! Keep the pictures coming.
  7. Superb work Nelson, you really are raising the bar! Now for the flu stuff, echinacea tablets, cod liver oil capsules and lots of the vitamin C as advised by burnthebox, all from tesco and worked for me. And we really do want you painting very soon! :-tb
  8. Hope you guys have all posted your votes for Lucy from Dublin on BBC The Voice. She is Amazinn!! 5 mins left She deserves ves to win.
  9. Chevron, over here in the UK there are regular swop meets where you will pick up 4mm road vehicles very cheaply. I bought two brand new Base Toy trucks for about £4 If you made a day trip of it from Dublin to Holyhead then train to Liverpool/ Manchester you will find lots of regular meets. Maybe you have friends relatives over here who could shop for you or you could visit. I do not know how much foot passengers cost on Irish Ferries but take a car over costs about £300. Just make sure you have a big carry bag and lots of cash!! Meets are posted in the model railway press. Hope this does not sound like too dafft an idea! Regards Mike
  10. Hi Nelson, my experience of Railtec is very good, the transfers are first class, see my coach!, the service is also good and Steve follows up if there are problems. They also do comissions but I did not use that service so I have no idea of price. And I have no connection with Railtec ecept as a customer. On the Irish group on RM web there was a guy who posted about his Valentia branch & I am sure GN transfers came up and I am also sure he said he had used Somerset and Dorset crests which at normal viewing distance the deception had not been noticed. Mike
  11. Very fine work Nelson and congratulations. I look forward to seeing the loco painted and the next project, wonder what that will be?? Mike
  12. Chevron, you keep going at it because thats a damn good start, should see some of my stuff from the early days!!!! or maybe not! And they guys on here will give all the advice you need, Just listen to Dunluce, he is a top man.
  13. Its a very clean straight break, I wonder if the trailer has been streched at some point in its life and that has created a stress area. Be interesting to see if it is in both chassis rails.
  14. Minister, thats where I am going to take my 4f, I think the Ncc V1 would be nice but the 4f boiler looks too large; as are the wheels for the J5 just depends what you can live with.
  15. Thank you for all the positive comments guys, whilst taking off unwanted moulded detail I did doubt my sanity and was it worth it? Definately and will do another when I can get some more T/tank coaches. Now what to do with all the Hornby brake van chassis? I had never tried using separate door handles and grabs, for me the jury is still out but Mrs 84C likes them! Thanks Jim, did put your suggestion to Mrs 84C but she just laughed! and said I should be so lucky, so very cruel! Noel, the transfers are from Railtec their Irish range and I have nothing but praise for their service, very friendly and swift, and the quality of the product. My only interest is a satisfied customer. JHB, part of the project was to see if I could make something out of a pigs ear. I am very happy with my coach. I was also amazed that +30yr old humbrol paint was still ok and sprayable, thats the green on the sides, which I do not think is quite dark enough.
  16. Just realized my dry brushing is awful best hide it with a thin wash!
  17. Well, heres a few pictures of the finished article, the deliberate mistake is-- its got no number! so I must email Railtec, who I think are brilliant, service, quality and very helpfull. No connection just a very satisfied customer.
  18. There are several tutorials/methods for Blender described on RM web. Interesting but mind blowing.
  19. Very good news, interesting items for the Irish modeller,so lets hope.
  20. Mesmerizing!
  21. Hey Nelson, that is rather cool and very different what a distinctive prototype, very crisply modelled. Look good when its painted and decaled.
  22. Thanks for all the info, the DSER F10 coach, its amazing that one made it into the 1950"s for definate and the others got scrapped after quite a short life. I did find what looks like another photo of one in Donal Murray Great Southern Railway on page 85 the lower photo second vehicle. I had a feeling the brown vans did not stray much but its my railway and I like them.
  23. Bos, try brushing the back ground sheet ,with a paper hanging brush when you steam the back sheet. depending on the glue used to fix it the steam should make the glue soft/workable. Does that make sense? its late!
  24. Thanks Leslie, good job I was given a magnifying glass at Christmas! Mike
  25. Would the Brown Vans, 4&6 wheeled versions have run on CIE or were they NCC/UTA only? On page 26 of Irish Broadgauge Carriages there is a photo of a Cronin 34ft 6in all first 6whl coach No15d. Was this a one off vehicle or was it one of a series and where can I find photos of others? I have scoured my library but I have nothing DSER specifc.
