  1. Again from the wonderful O'Dea collection parcel van 2554 brand new 'out of the box ' perhaps on trial 1960 so freshly out shopped in green. http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000304884
  2. There was a lot, fert's , liners , baby GM's , 071's, bubbles , mk2D's and cravens at very good prices they went very quick .A case of first up best dressed.
  3. well spotted BGSV two steps upper step seems to be hung from the underframe and a lower step which looks like its fixed to the axle keep .
  4. Found this picture in the O'Dea collection of G613 at Heuston hauling coaches the first coach behind the loco is I think 1906 commonwealth bogies you can see the marker light and drivers window at the end which looks very dirty so it may have become unused at this stage . I think the date(1962) might be incorrect the craven coaches only arrived in 1963?? http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000306044
  5. this is as I would remember them
  6. Here is a pic of one with nets from the O'Dea collection http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000305576
  7. I think SSM used to take off over the Christmas period in previous years .
  8. Those swap bodies look great when they were new but the removable sides were lost damaged and were replaced by some very homemade looking ones.
  9. Awesome , excellent work and to add what Redrich said the correct 8'0 commonwealth bogies make all the difference .
  10. It's Cork the Brown van with the pressed steel end is of GNR(I) origin the other is a standard CIE H van .
  11. Another one common in the 1970's 30' Irish Ferryways can be seen in the background here
  12. The picture of the CIE insulated container is very similar to the early B&I containers . http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000307819
  13. Pretty much the same also marked with the word ‘GYPSUM’ on the side .
  14. Try humbrol decalfix I have used it in the past and found it very good .
  15. This book is available in Hodges Figgis in Dublin for those who don’t want to purchase on line .
  16. They look great
  17. Ordered this book from the book depository a week or so ago for €13.80 which is a steal it's the price of a couple of magazines . The book arrived today appropriately enough by An Post !. It's a wonderful book from one of the great photographers of the Irish scene covering mid 1980's to the present day with about 200 illustrations and detailed captions covering all classes of locomotives on passenger ,freight and PWD . This book is a must for anyone wanting to model the Irish scene over the past 30 years . Just checked online the book depository is now showing out of stock I imagine it's selling faster than they anticipated, this maybe one of these sought after books selling on ebay for a fortune in years to come . Get it while you can!.
  18. Thanks Ernie , great detail in that picture .
  19. 1904-08 series coach behind the loco and interestingly what looks like a lamp mounted above the Guards duckett.
  20. Any motor factors with a paint mixing scheme should be able to mix you up a can on request.
  21. I had seen those wonderful pictures before you can learn a lot from a photo the condition of the van would indicate that it’s on its last legs , the coach next to it has GUARD on the door the guard was possibly using tat a the guards van the 4 w van is there just to provide heat and nothing else .
  22. Had a good look at the 121 yesterday ans hats off it looks fantastic , when you see the model laid out with the various cabs you forget how many variations there were of the 121 class , large centre window small centre window , handrails , no handrails , vents in doors no vents the list is endless but I think Paddy Murphy has got it correct . Price aside these locomotives are a must have for any Irish Modeller . I hope some of the transfer makers SSM and Railtech will do a transfer pack of alternative numbers for the 121's so we can alter the fleet number to suit in my case Black and Tan B121+B134 which were the first pair of 121's.
  23. Totally agree with ak425 but it would be great if retailers rewarded loyalty we live in a deal culture so perhaps if retailers offer a price per loco and offer a price for customers who would order 4 or 6 or more .
  24. Second one is Ennis maybe , the third and forth ones are Galway.
