  1. Reckon Des was impressed by the presenters "other work" :-) Looked a fantastic show, and in fairness she asked some decent questions. Had to laugh at the lady from prince august - i reckon i had a chat with her in december. Ordered 60 paints from mithril.ie (their other end) and after no sign of the courier a week later rang. "Aroo tha man from Dingle" - "No, I'm the man from..." "Well" says she " I had a man on from Dingle earlier this morning with the same problem, and...." She couldn't have done enough, nor enquired further about the shocking weather up in the big smoke. Courier turned up about 10 minutes later after i hung up still chuckling at the irish approach to things. Really going tmo have to make the pilgrammage next year, there were some tidy looking MK1 and MK2 bargains in one of them shots :-)
  2. Is there anway we could make this an a level module? I wish i had this level of dedication when i was nelsons age..... savage work young man, greatness beckons.
  3. Give the paints to chevron :-)
  4. Happy to take the TPO wagon, crane, and a pile of them 4 wheeled wagons. I'd plump for the paints also, but i reckon a younger modeller might benefit from them :-) i'll ping you a pm JHB.
  5. Hearty congrats indeed. And what Rebel said :-P
  6. no mind your pings or pongs. http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/1337-what-paint-for-what-airbrush-thread what more do ye need????

  8. Masks would also work? Machine cut? Poor ol des.... :-)
  9. Gotta love these nonsense liveries. "Lets add black strip along the middle" "And a bit of wibbly wobbly wonder thats not in either green, gold, blue or red" Have CIE ever heard of photoshop and that people might be able to mock up this crap in minature and virtual before you commit an entire paint shop in inchicore? Hey CIE, YOU NEED SOME HELP? Yeah, orange as a base colour for years seems like a decent political gesture?
  10. I've seen this happen with old airfix type fish vans where the decals are almost moulded in and no amount of brake fluid nor oven cleaner will shift them. Bit of wet and dry and a fibre glass pencil may be an option, but would love to see the results using thumps suggestions.
  11. and the military invasion of the Irish Free State by three Orangemen from Cullybackey. This thread is too good....
  12. Is that the Milne Report? I'll take it, the 1948 one....
  13. 2 feet is the minimum Stick two chairs 2 feet apart and test for comfort.
  14. Is that the size of the room Westport? I just did a quick sketch of what you have and an it's tighter than the camels proverbials in a sandstorm. I'd suggest a U shaped layout with a large 2 foot board on the longest wall, a curve section across the widest part of the room (5ft) and a fiddle yard about a foot wide on the other side. This will give you an operating space in the middle.
  15. Can i put my name forward for the last two booklets on churches etc? Don't ask.... :-)
  16. Since the SLNCR were bonkers, and broke, would this be a solution? Courtesy of Heirflick? Superb finish on the loco, top top stuff. And congratz on getting published, it's well deserved. And like Des, I'm stealing "witness coat" also Richie.
  17. It pains me ask this as I despise the buggerin things, but would anyone have outline general arrangement drawings of 2700/2800/29000 railcars? Wanderer perhaps? Arrivals@glenderg.com - it's worth a pint, or a first class meal. Same price probably..... Richie.
  18. Tom, If i can contribute just this small bit - cut out identical triangles that match the roof profile and "force" the roof into a profile by glueing them underneath. I'll send you down some bangor blue slate sheets next week and you can overlay them on the first fix roof? Valleys and gutters you'll have to tackle on your lonesome though :-) richie.
  19. Folks, When my compressor went awol last year Kirley stepped in and sent me his as he was upgrading. It filled a gap, and at the same time I got my identical unit back and sort of working. Neither of them are top end products, nor functioning to a "pro" level, but they do work, and have provided great service. I've ordered a mofo of a machine from bartsharp and expect it by next friday, so there are two compressors, with hoses and moisture traps going a begging. No money involved here. Collection only. I'd rather see them go to the MRSI or a similar club to help train up novices than an individual. That said, i'd be happy if they went to some teenager who wants to have a go, but can't afford one. So, expressions of interest by this day next week please, and if the circumstance dictates you cannot collect, arrangements can be made. Depending on how many dried tears are on the message of course..... Richie.
  20. A wonderful introduction to the board geraghty. Great bit of poirot work!
  21. It's Pallasgrean - I was reared there. I was a young man when they spoke of this, I'm now middle aged and bugger all has happened, and I reckon I'll be an aulfla before the diggers start rolling.
  22. Jamie, the compressor should have an auto- cut out feature, so increase the pressure to max by lifting the knob on the moisture trap and turning it til the pressure increases. It should auto cut off, so it's not constantly running, and help keep it cool. I burnt out one by constant spraying (non-stop) for an hour, so breaks in between will lengthen the lifespan.
  23. *cue Lord of the Rings music.... He can be none other than "The Heuston Driver".....
