  1. I've said it before, but I'm so glad I got back into the hobby in early 2006. So much changed in the following 20 months. I'm only sorry I didn't get a bigger memory card and take even more photos!! Catching semaphore signals at Ennis was the most memorable. I got them with the light fading at 8pm on a Friday. Called down the next morning at 10:00 am and every shred of detail was gone as if it had never existed. Moral is, if you see something, stop what you're doing and just photograph it. You never know when it'll be gone.
  2. Scaha Mucho Thanks for that. Cutting up gel?? Very fiddley I don't doubt (that's why I include decals), but sweet result. Franky Gavin would be proud of you. Dave, They are designed to be functional and could work with a tortoise motor, but I have left just what mechanism to be used to the user.
  3. Lovely job Scaha!!! Great to see the rodding with the counterweights and you've done a sweet job on the spectacles. Love the way the light is shining through the lenses. May I use them on the website, full credit etc.?

    Lidl compressor

Thanks for the heads up on this. I got myself the pressure gauge and airgun accessories pack for a tenner. Great little kit.
  5. Great performance there Eoin, and nice video, straight to the point. The reeallllly slow running was cool.
  6. Ah John, that's only lovely. Real, wooden, carriage building in miniature. Love all the latts doing their bit. Well done.
  7. Happy new year to you all, I echo the above sentiments, may it be filled with modelling joy!
  8. What a layout. A small (and big) boy's dream..... But as stated, you'd probably get planning permission for a real one easier.
  9. John. Lovely job. If I'd a facebook profile I'd "like" it. Very impressed by the horse box. Count me in for that!

    Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas Boskonay, As always, thanks for keeping the site going and so smoothly and cleanly too (and of course to Santa's little helpers, the Mods.) See you in Cork in the new year.
  12. Well lads, right to the wire, but the ammonia etch pattern is now formally approved and closed off and the photo etch can now be manufactured. All final tweaks and adjustments have been made to ensure an easy and accurate build (mimimising reaming and widening holes, sufficient slot widths for parts, brake assembly detailing etc.). I've added in as much detail as I could harvest from the scant (and low resolution) photographic evidence that exists. You can expect them to be in stock by end of January. The instructions have also been written up, so there will be no delays!
  13. Jayz, does he think it's 2004? Mad money....for the loco, not the post...
  14. Good work Eamon, looking well worn and weathered, and all the twist locks attached, you're a patient man
  15. Got the etch plots back from the Manufacturer this morning, looking through it and all is well! A big box of resin tanker ends also arrived in the door, so we're well on track for January.

    Happy birthday

Ah, so that's why you were a touch "dilikit" today, Happy Birthday Boss!
  17. See the Ammonia Thread for more detail but suffice to say: The Ammonia Tanker /wagon kit/model design has now been finalised and sent off for production, pending final adjustments. There have been siginificant redesign to get the tanker element right and add in some other ancilliary detail on the side skirts and underframes. All going well, it will be available in 6 weeks time, end of January 2015.

  19. Nice!!! Glad to see the spare detail of use. It's included as it's a guarantee that some item is going to go missing at some stage. I've been that soldier...
  20. New etches arrived in today, just in time for Santa
  21. Richie, love the latest addition. Soldering the bogie sides makes complete sense and your approach will ensure that nothing gets melted, that shouldn't get melted. I didn't design the coupling bar to be bent over or be used in quite that fashion but hell, it works....really well! Frankly, I'm amazed that you didn't have to cut out the V trusses for clearance, just be careful out there... "Fiddlier than a fiddler at the fiddlers green festival", yup, that's a 1/8" 10BA cheesehead screw for yah. Overall a super addition to resources to help construct the 42'. Nice one.
  22. That is just fantastic. I never thought that when I was doing my bit for her back in Mallow with the GSRPS in '84 that it would be another 30 years before things started moving!
  23. Scahalane, You could try http://www.studio-scale-models.com/lights.shtml €19 for four metal or €16 for four wooden poles and lights. They come in sunny yellow to get that soft tungsten look.
  24. Is there an emoticon for swoon+bowled over? Using photos as a base just brings it onto new level of grimy perfection.
  25. Looking good sir, looking good!
