IE seeks new rolling stock
hurricanemk1c replied to StevieB's topic in What's happening on the network?
Nothing official yet, just broadening the horizons a bit as required. Unlike the UK, where bi-modes are DMUs with a pantograph, something along the Stadler bi-modes are more likely from the proposals I have seen when it's been discussed -

Good evening all, There was still plenty of snow around on Monday 11 December as I travelled up from Portlaoise to a college exam in Dublin, but it allowed for some interesting photos! Album link - https://www.flickr.com/photos/hurricanemk1c/albums/72157690300945964 Regards, Kieran -

Good evening all, November has been a relatively quite month, having got over the excitement of the Bluebell and Munster Double railtour. However there are still a few surprises! The main event of the month thus far is being involved in evacuation tests on the Luas Cross City route, with a complete circuit and a quick visit to Broombridge depot in the process. As always, click on any of the photos below to view them full size Album link - https://www.flickr.com/photos/hurricanemk1c/albums/72157688465785461 Regards, Kieran -

The Saturday was an extremely busy day. The nice logical route from my hotel in East Croydon to East Grinstead (for the Bluebell Railway) was a straight trip there. So I decided to get up a bit earlier, and go via Wimbledon. As you do! In addition, I got word that a Rail Head Treatment Train was due to visit East Grinstead during the day, so the plan was rapidly changed to accomodate that! Just a few highlights have been picked out of an excellent day. All can be found at the album link at the end of the page Album link - https://www.flickr.com/photos/hurricanemk1c/albums/72157688867172144 Regards, Kieran The Saturday was an extremely busy day. Good morning all, Over the weekend of Friday 6 - Sunday 8 October 2017, I was in London and the Bluebell Railway for the Deltic Preservation Society's 40th Anniversary Gala. Having taken around 2,500 photo (thank god for digital!), I'm still slowly getting through them all! First off, a selection of photos from the Friday - Portlaoise to High Wycombe via Dublin, Gatwick Airport, Ashford International and Ilford. As always click on any of the photos to view them all size Album link - https://www.flickr.com/photos/hurricanemk1c/albums/72157686090143052/with/36932274854/ Regards, Kieran -
Full normal service operating from Connolly station southbound. DART services from Malahide / Howth to Connolly are not operating, advised to go via Dublin Bus. Drogheda services operate to Skerries and bus transfer south to Connolly. Enterprise services are bus throughout due to additional works between Newry and Lisburn. Maynooth/Sligo/Rosslare services are unaffected

Apologies for the delay. More formations below. I can't currently place my hand on my 2006 notes but do have 2007/2008 handy. It appears to have been an issue as to where in the printing process your particular journal was. Mine is fine also. I would suggest contacting the Editor (email just inside the cover) for anyone with issues

Translink IE rule book for Drivers and railway staff
hurricanemk1c replied to dave182's topic in General Chat
I don't think it's the most up-to-date rule book, but I also think there's a piece in UK legislation that says these kind of things have to be published. For example, the entire mainland UK Working Time Table is published online: https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/timetabling/working-timetable/ The Railway Safety Standards Board handles the rule book in its 14,000 pieces as well, plus some interesting standards https://www.rssb.co.uk/railway-group-standards#!#Default={"k":"","r":[{"n":"rgsolDocumentStatus","t":["\"ǂǂ4c697665\""],"o":"OR","k":false,"m":{"\"ǂǂ4c697665\"":"Live"}}]}- 1 reply

Dart to run to Maynooth and Kildare?
hurricanemk1c replied to Broithe's topic in What's happening on the network?
No such thing has been mentioned. The only things related to 201s is sanding and re-engineering (the refurb programme). Likely not to be replaced. Those who were present at a meeting in the Irish Railway Record Society in March will have heard some of the potential plans for the 8200 fleet, as well as the general strategy rolling-stock wise. And loco hauled (or rather push/pull) is likely to stay for some time -

I'll have to have a dig but I do have some typical formations from 2004 on a day trip from the UK (same for 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008) that may be of help. Will have them later on, and I'll also check out the seating capacities I do not think the Executive coaches were ever used in regular service. If they were attached to a service train it may have been more of convinence than anything else

Good evening all, I've been a bit lax in posting here on the last month or so, so this large post will make amends to that! As always, click on any of the photos or album link to view them all --- First off was the National Steam Rally in Stradbally. Whilst I was volunteering, there was the chance or two to get some interesting photos! Also included in this album are a couple of Luas shots Album link - --- Moving on to other Luas photos, 18 August marked the start of fully signalled testing on the new Luas Cross City line, although not without a few issues! Album link - --- Sunday 27 August, and I popped out to the Curragh to get the Belmond passing, as well as have a look at the Plant Shop Album link - --- On 29 August I ended up in Limerick Junction, changing trains having come from Waterford. Luckily for me Retro liveried 073 was standing with a battered 086 on PW duties Album link - --- On 30 August I visited Dundalk and M3 Parkway as part of work and then got a few photos in Connolly and Park West whilst heading home. The main attraction at Dundalk were the stored RPSI Gatwick Express Mark 2's, the first time I have been able to see them up close. Album link - September will follow over the weekend! Regards, Kieran -

Good afternoon all, The allocated 071-class loco for the Belmond Grand Hibernian this weekend was freshly repainted and released 073, in the 1987 livery. I knew nothing about this, but timed my arrival at Heuston to co-incide with the Belmond shunts. I was pleased to see it alright!
