  1. Smashing video, GM with great close-up of both locos and coaches. How did 461 get turned? there must still be a table at KK
  2. As one amateur photographer to another, Fran, I understand where you're coming from and I already know you hold this point of view. This thread has become somewhat lively and entertaining in my absence but since we're back on topic, let's keep moving in that direction. Very true, Jim. Many may not know what is codified or has no basis in legal process or statute.
  3. Rather than hijack another thread on Facing Points Locks (FPLs), I wonder if somebody could explain the mechanical motion that occurs after a lever is pulled in the signal box. From Mayner's post on another thread, these seem to be facing points with a FPL attached. I guess if I understood on which rod the actuation began and what moved on what thereafter, I might understand this other thread better. Sorry , I know this might be difficult to explain from the series of pictures. Incidentally is anything thrown by hand anymore or is it all done electronically/electrically/mechanically nowadays? (if I had spent more time roving carelessly along the permanent way I might know this). Apologies in advance if everyone on here knows this but me:o
  4. Ok, that make perfect sense now. I have not noticed many of these before and was under the impression that CWR did not need many or any of these as expansion takes place mostly at the ends of CWR (barring other structures that would also change length differentially to the track e.g. bridges etc.) How long is CWR when completed (if that doesn't sound like a misnomer?) How often are these used?
  5. It is refreshing to have an exceptional authorized teenager advise us on these risk management issues:rolleyes: That would probably be an ecumenical matter (aka at the discretion of the Moderator) ......... maybe less finger wagging would avoid the need for the request? That said, you do put up some great shots here and I do enjoy them:)
  6. While JHB is trying to corner the "For Sale or Wanted" market, I thought I'd blow the dust of this ad in case anyone has 187 surplus to requirements?
  7. So, a lesson in axle-loading to be learned here?
  8. Thanks, Heirflick for asking that! Is this the same situation, Tom? Looks like the rails here may be 'spliced' together and clamped with some additional supporting sleepers?
  9. Seriously?............ all of us?
  10. Not necessarily. It depends on what the remainder would buy. If you intend to buy one, that speaks for itself, and "3-5 "being AT LEAST 3 and 'more than 5' being at least 6 these are the 'orders' from the survey 121s 320 As 231 071s 192 Cs 177 141s 155 201s 131 Nothing being certain in life but the 121 is on the way at some point "next up" A's are also highly desirable which is interesting since at least some are available from SF, so either people want more of them or better ones. The 071's are also highly sought after and presently on the market so will be purchased from existing stock unless modellers want even more diversity in the existing liveries/numbers. C's are also fairly desirable just pipping more 141s. 141s are still sought after judging by this and since the are effectively sold out now there are likely to be modellers that will want to add to existing stocks or new modellers that will likely want them. 201s lowest on the diesel list but still available. Worth remembering that they are the only model that HAS had a new run after the old Limas. Looking at the numbers in the survey, not one model up there would be worth producing due to insufficient numbers. These are responses from only 150 modellers and it's hard to know how far to extrapolate this data. Depending on that, there could well be an additional market for many of the models up there although the 121 and A are clear leaders.
  11. No photoshopped fakes please.......... you know Ireland CANNOT be seen from space due to the permanent cumulonimbus coverage! John, I am exactly 23 hours behind you, right now, so I'll be celebrating long after you're done!
  12. Their vision for the future might have benefitted from a trip to specsavers!
  13. Incompetence reigns supreme again. No timetables but resources to lift the track. Astounding mismanagement
  14. Eh......... NO!
  15. Some recent discussion on deficiencies of a 4 function decoder with a 071 class that amounts to the same problem you're having http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/4357-4-function-decoder
  16. Well, 800 is named for the warrior Queen of Connaught and so would your daughter, so no lie! My niece is Maedhbh...... they do love Irish names at passport control, y'know... Aoife, Siobhan etc.

  19. It's a long time since I heard that, Dave. Still good.
  20. It was definitely not a local problem yesterday. Had to email BK to let him know. Working well today though
  21. Ah sure, 'twas only the wan time. Ne'r to be repeated. I'm sure……... Money wasted and not invested
  22. Fantastic if it comes to fruition! Models have been produced by other preservation societies like GWR, although i Can;t comment on whether they are a significant source of income http://www.easycatalog.net/home/steamshop/
  23. That's a very late start to the day, Jim!………. well, I suppose you're on GMT so you're getting up with the rest of us here
  24. I'm pretty sure that Apple's voice recognition software (which requires a radiotelephony signal, it's not on the phone) is located at the NSA central server:rolleyes:
  25. Noel, you really need to think about making the jump to DCC on the old chronograph there;)
