Sad to see the T&D in such a derelict state last time I was there for the model rail exhibition. One of the Road Freight Services trucks from the RTE archives
-
I always find it hard to see a wonderful layout being dismantled but recycling certainly accelerates the time to complete the next building and limits cost on duplicate items. The control panel is a nice touch and the double slip is definitely the way to go. Who knew they were use on the MGW (maybe others, I didn't, thanks John as always). Very nice layout, coming along nicely, love the board gauge as always, wish so much there was a purchase option rather than a scratch build for track work. Looking forward to further updates!

I agree but then I'd be hoping for TWO more locos without the A being on the shelves yet (not that I expect them to linger there for very long!)
-
CIE used some Bedford trucks for Road Freight Services which looked very much like the old Nat Ross styles trucks with a forward 'attic' over the cab. There were different styles and some were apparently even used for horses on occasion. I'm not sure how large the fleet was but some numbers included BV-28 and BV-103

I'm definitely planning a rake of the CIE containers even before I'd buy the Bells and B&I's (blasphemous, I know) and one good thing about Fran's original photo (after my chest pains eased) is that it prompted a lot of great shots being posted above. I don't really want to have to weather every container immediately on arrival so I'm glad to see the later photo which is probably as light as I ever remember these thing in the yard. Very eye catching photos though, they really look well with the container loads only. Really nice job!!

Kinda like the closure of the West Clare or the T&D ( I don't recall which exactly, someone will correct) where the 'last' train was cancelled!

I sort of knew someone was going to say that, Leslie, either way would be fine I suppose. But yes, the intermediates would have a lot of uses being hauled by anything before the end of CIE steam and could be produced as separate items I would hope Lots of livery options here although not as much as the A class. The railcars also became part of the push/pull sets (in this case you'd not need a powered loco at the other end) and as regular demotorised carriages in BnT I had the same thoughts as you with the B & C except the the B ran in far smaller numbers and the C is similar in many ways to the A that at little variety would probably be preferable in my view. I'd love to see that CIE set and with extra laminate coaches. IRM has done a fantastic job of producing models which are running or preserved but they seem to have a good eye for scaling photographs which are fairly plentiful for these options. If you look at the British outline, particularly steam, I'm not sure how many preserved examples remain of the plethora of coaches and engines produced by larger manufacturers (no offense to IRM for the comparison)

Well, obviously the next vowel is E so I’m with JB on that being an option and the intermediates for those have plenty of uses...

Not bad for a livery that wasn't 'liked' all that much

Vandals wreck Market Deeping Model Railway exhibition

I suppose if they were to assist in railway preservation on the six foot rather than on the 24mm that might serve some purpose -
Can you change the thread title to "Lose weight and improve your sex life fast".... hitting your wallet is sort of expected with these things

May I please just ask how these results are to be interpreted? It seems like 69 people responded to the survey but each person could cast one vote (I am most looking forward to this... and done) or as many votes as there were options to respond to (I most like this, then my second/third/fourth choices would be X,Y,Z etc). If all the votes are represented on this bar chart without some weighting system (1st choice vote weighted as 20, second choice 15, third choice 12 etc) then a 5th choice vote would represent the same degree of interest in a model as a first choice vote and might explain the relatively 'flat' nature to the results you posted if you see what I mean.

I'm sure the token 500 quid compensation will go a long way to covering the losses, or maybe they'll be building quality layouts for a decade or so until everything is ship shape? One might need to redefine 'reparations' in the judicial context -
Nice little shot of Sambo, Ernie. Thank you for having such a fantastic collection out there and posting some of it as necessary to embellish the threads on here. A couple of members really need to freaking grow up and quit the sniping. I am sooooo tired of it and it just lowers the tone so if you haven't something decent to say, please, some forbearance (or a lot) would go a long way (and having suppressed that request for months, I shall now also do the same again). Although Richie and I seem to share an interest in interest in oddball/rarer stuff, I think that silent majority must be geographically confined, and if anyone were to produce a steamie, I'd much prefer to see a 400 class for the mainline, GSWR/MGWR derived 4-4-0/ 0-6-0 to master running characteristics or whatever to get that ball rolling. There might be a silent following for Pat on the Cork coaling gantry too (just sayin', like!). And much as I'd love to see an 800 class, if that didn't fit with a reasonable numbers of modelers layouts, like I said, I'd be very happy with one of the aforementioned others.... tuppence

Top'n'tailing can be tricky especially if there are tight curves and light rolling stock. If you take any too 'identical' locomotives and run them on the same DC circuit, one often catches the other. It can be even trickier with dissimilar locos which may have different gearing and hence different starting , running and top speeds for any given current on the track. I think the same holds true once DCC is added but there is a way to have a consist of locos match speeds (using back EMF I believe) so one is not working harder than the other, and the propelling loco is not trying to derail the stock against the leading loco etc. Now, I've forgotten the details of how to do this with which decoders but it's discussed in the DCC section and maybe someone can point you to the correct thread?

Destructive and stupid. I don't hold out much hope for mankind not destroying the planet entirely every time I see something like this

Actually, I did and noticed that spelling which is usually more prevalent in the US than in England. I assumed that Rodrick wanted to reassure that the correct product had been received. I suppose if we're the only two then yours is much less valuable to the collector than before?

I agree. She's about 7 containers long, very compatible with a layout. The Bell Amazone, NO. 8703256, there are some other pictures of her available. I'llpost a link as soon as I find them EDIT: by Paddy Roche http://www.irishships.com/images/Bell Lines/Paddy Roche/AMAZONE 1.jpg The Bell Resolve is also a good looking vessel https://www.flickr.com/photos/48073612@N04/28195891429/in/photolist-JXzjc8 https://www.flickr.com/photos/winship2019/45304588695/in/photolist-2c2pRQc-eAvQyp-a1zgGq-octRfV-saai9w-rKHjzu-inYH9K-otXGnC-9M2DUT-sGwSH7-p7V2sj-ouWybr-qCCXMQ-sGwQW1-otXTUt-pLbiua-sGJaMP-rQ2xsD-mY5iqS-qUsmVr-RgoNXD-sGHpY2-sq8PQm-e3E7sy-e2rFD4-7SyQqH-7LQxM9-iyLtVt-jsuzNG-rKUPEa-8neEvu-sGwK7L-74a1x6-sq8H6E-dnGcPh-74aWRK-p7gE6n-74eymh-ca2E29-mAAif2-pywyGJ-sGwKuQ-9JUL7s-sGHjye-f2LzJG-6gvLvJ-ca3anm-q49ydy-q3dv8x-mAzYsH

What chassis is the Hunslet on, class 20?

That's just the basic trestle there. You'll also need a steel toed shoes, harness, high visibility vest, ground anchors for the trestle for use on grass, spirit level, hilti-gun/masonry bolts, anemometer, uplink to Met Eireann, lightning rod and insulators, reflective cones, warning signs for passengers and the public, use certification, permit, wheelbarrow, and a back support for yourself should get your started. If you're serious you'll ensure you have spares for everything. PS Don't forget to pack your camera
