  3. That looks amazing! Captures the real thing very well.
  4. There is indeed, it is covered in I-PWY-1141 Engineering Requirements for Passenger Platforms and Barrow Paths. In summary, the yellow line is to be 100mm wide, lettering is to be 250mm tall, and text is to be repeated at a rate of 6 per 100m length of platform for both Irish and English (I think that means 12 total per 100m). The specification varies when there is a requirement to have 'Mind the Gap' on the platform. There should also be a 150mm white line along the platform edge and tactile slabs along the length. This all applies to new platform surfaces. The font is Brunel Positive (apparently), however I use use Transport font, which is widely used for similar applications (as the name suggests). I do have a pdf copy of this document if you want a look. It's a good one for the rivet counters!
  5. The extension pieces are 1mm styrene card cut to shape and painted.
  6. I like the way the barrier wagon came out, a nice amount of weathering.
  7. Work completed on the static grass, and hooked up for a surprise The light sequence is controlled using a PICAXE chip which is located under the board. The nameplate is 3D printed.
  8. I have added extensions to the output chutes on some of my autoballasters and resin loads from Make Your Mark Models.
  9. Thanks George I am happy with it. Final diorama pictures to come soon.
  10. I started this Revell kit in 2016/2017 and am just now finishing up a diorama base to display it on. I intend to static grass around the runway, and I have built a cover for the model from acrylic sheet.

      • WOW!
  15. The 40 foot beets are probably in a niche market. I made my own for the IRM flats, which I have documented on my workbench.
  16. Thanks Stephen, I must get a video of them running soon. Thanks, It's heavy though!
  17. I am going to spray a set of 4 wheel coaches. I 3D printed this replacement tension lock coupler bar and glued it to the chassis.
  18. I bought a new soldering iron in July and repurposed my 'mobile modelling' set up to hold most of my soldering equipment. I also went a bit mad with decals, the surface area made them very tricky to apply. I have unfortunately not had many occasions to use these tools yet.
  19. HI Thomas I will send you a message.
  20. Nice pictures, that shunt move is mentioned in Off the Beaten Track Volume 1 - a good DVD showing Wellingtobridge over the years. I'd love to build a layout of it - building the loader would be an interesting challenge.
  21. Excellent I was really looking forward to this one!! Great pricing also.
  22. With the prices on Shapeways being so high, it would probably be cheaper to print a master and cast it from resin if there is demand. The price for the 4mm version would probably be 3-4 times more expensive than the 2mm version.
  23. 3D printed 40 foot beet wagons complete My rake of these wagons is now finished. I think the technology works well for a wagon body such as this, which I would say is well within the 'two foot rule'; particularly when weathered and combined with the detail of the IRM flat wagon. The layering and slightly soft edges are less noticeable in person. Each wagon takes about 6.5 hours to print. There was a small amount of clean up and sanding required before painting. Matching the colour was difficult and initially I wasn't happy with it - I have used the weathering to depict the rake as it might have been later in the season. As there is only a single door for unloading, I have noticed that the wagons were positioned so that the door is on the 'north' side of the tracks (east of Limerick Junction anyway).
  24. Thanks! These wagons were put together for the 2005 beet season - which unfortunately was the last season. The trains ran Wellingtonbridge - Waterford - Limerick Junction - Mallow.
