  1. They seem to be on about pinching something - possibly a stack of boxes from somewhere in Dublin?
  2. It looks to me that Hattons will sell it to you for £72 + £4 carriage to the North - for wooden sleeper track.
  3. In the 70s, I used to go from Stafford to Lincoln on the train - cycling to Uttoxeter saved over an hour on the journey, and a third of the ticket price.
  4. I think it's actually near the Russian sauna in Navan - that's him in the top picture here. https://www.facebook.com/rrsauna/?rf=296432527114579
  5. Thinking about it, you might bump into Vlad before I do..
  6. I'll see what I can co. Whilst discussing aerodynamic braking with somebody, I found this supreme example of the technique from an Il 76 in Malta - perhaps the cost of the brake shoes comes out of his wages?
  7. And back again. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42691337
  8. Up on RTÉ-player now, even for those in the outside world. https://www.rte.ie/player/gb/show/nationwide-21/10826418/

    AEC Renown.

A Facebook acquaintance has this on eBay, if it's of any interest to anybody. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232628329230?roken=cUgayN
  10. Every station should have a cat. Try to instil a sense of duty by making the position official. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tama_(cat)
  11. There's no chlorine in styrene, but the fumes are certainly not good for you. Chlorine could become available from some other polymers, notably PVC, obviously. It would be wise to avoid any polymer (partial) combustion products.
  12. I haven't watched this, but these sorts of programmes usually have some sort of fictional "added drama" to interest those who would be watching anything that was on at the time anyway. It's the same sort of thing as cooking against the clock in a tent, etc.... "Never watch a TV programme about a subject that you have any knowledge of yourself" is a good general rule these days.
  13. This nice picture has just appeared on Twitter.
  14. I used Fleischmann expansion joints with Peco flexi 100 - worked well.
  15. It's not just a "young v old" thing - there is also a "male v female" aspect. I've always felt that promotion of layouts as "smaller dolls' houses in a landscape setting" may have some mileage..
  16. 3rd & 4th of February this year. http://www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk/exhibition/ Worth a visit, if you're not too far away - always a good standard. Nothing specifically for "us" this year, it seems, but plenty to see...
  17. Due to almost annual house moves, often to different countries, I never had a train set at all. I did come across them in the houses of the "settled populations" and it was always 'on the list', but circumstances made it a little awkward to have anything with any permanence. I did, though, get as far as one of the Lone Star die-cast ones that was around N Gauge in size.

    Dirt

Fibres from clothes, curtains, furnishings, etc., and some bits of skin. Running your railway naked after a good, hot, exfoliant shower might help.
  19. Natural settings usually look better with curving - you can get away with sharp corners in urban settings more easily. In rural settings, the sharp corner can be hidden with a tree or suitable building.
  20. I was "bubbles", too, it didn't let me specify orange ones..
  21. Done. The two wagons in the same category may dilute the vote a bit - we'll see.
  22. 1, Those pictures are all the right way up, has your account been hacked? 2, That's one hell of a drop there...
