  1. Very quiet on this thread, what's the latest update on the release of the most important model ever for the Irish railway modeller?
  2. Some model railway shops will buy part or whole collections. I know that Rails of Sheffield buy second hand items and, I've seen some places on mainland Europe advertising the same also. No point in holding onto stock that you're not going to use. When I've sold items in the past I've done so on the basis that they are of no modelling value to me and was better off selling them. Some of your HAG Re 460s maybe more valuable than others - depending on which advertisement they carry. It'd be worth checking out eBay to see what the going rate for second hand HAG items are going for so you have some idea what you should be getting. There is a classifieds section on here also, you should check that out but, the market for continental model railway items in Ireland is quite small.
  3. There's just something about the quality of those locomotives [HAG Re 460s] you can't beat. I keep looking at them and saying that someday I'll rid myself of them but can't bring myself 'round to doing so. Maybe I'll keep them and just get a few wagons to run behind them. There's just no way that I'd recoup anywhere near what I paid for them. Mind, when I bought them at the time they were for keeps and I never buy anything thinking what their value will be in years to come, otherwise, they'd been left in the boxes untouched.
  4. We mustn't forget the Murphy Models 'Lima' 201 - that's what really started it all. While it's not comparable in terms of his later models it is the first model of an actual Irish locomotive prototype. We've been a bit spoilt since but there was a lot of excitement back then and many of us at the time couldn't believe our eyes when we actually saw the model. No longer had we to imagine that the supertrain liveried BR Class 33 was meant to be an 'A' or 'C' (take your pick), the Lima 201 was the real deal. When I look at my Murphy Models 121s and how detailed they are I wonder did we ask for too much? I spend more time looking at rather than running them, they are the créme de la créme of the 00 model diesel locomotive world. So "Thank you" to Paddy Murphy is the least we can say.
  5. That's most likely the train for Sligo. All the crap was used on that line.
  6. Of course they're awesome models, they were made by IRM. Those guys won't let you down. I'd take a bow but I've got a dodgy back.
  7. Hi Weshty, you are correct. Over the years I've come across a few HO road vehicles with Irish company liveries on them. Normally I discover them on websites for Swiss based model railway shops.
  8. I find the 'One Hundred Days of Walking' segment on Newstalk very annoying. As soon as it's mentioned I change to a different radio channel. Have to say, the quality of presenters on Newstalk aren't as good as they used to be.
  9. This might just be a tad too small for your OO layouts
  10. Good camera work, they look a lot bigger than OO.
  11. @irishthump: Great work on the weathering, looks very realistic. What gauge is the stock? I've been visiting the Accurascale website lately and there's an update on the Class 37s and it looks impressive. 2021 looks like it'll be a good year to be a British Railway modeller.
  12. Hi All, came across this story in the BBC business section. Click on link to read the story: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-55329570
  13. @Warbonnet: The shine is beginning to fade on my one2ones, so, what's the latest with the As?
  14. Calm down guys. The paint has hardly dried on the MM121s and now you're looking for a "bells & whistles" model of the Sulzers. I wonder if Murphy Models and IRM will have an arm wrestling competition to see who produces of the B101s. Things are a bit quiet on the A Class front.
  15. Years ago 'a box shifter' meant something totally different.
  16. Have to say, this is my favourite thread. Always look forward to new photographs being added. Learn so much of how Ireland's railways were back in the mid-20th century. A picture tells a thousand words.
  17. I'd say that Paddy Murphy got all of the details right and, maybe, it's EMD/CIE/IÉ who got it wrong and they should use his models to put things right. Does anyone remember how many RTR models of Irish railway prototypes were available on the market 20 years ago. It's so long ago I can't remember.
  18. The MM0125 looks great. I'd say these models will sell very quickly.
  19. It has been announced that the production of the Fleischmann HO Profi Track has ceased. It's news to me as I thought that they had stopped producing all HO related model railway items since 2019. Sad to see the demise of a once great model railway manufacturer.
  20. Just shows you how good the IRM stuff is when you didn't need to use them.
  21. The yellow handrails on the 121 in that video are very plastic looking.
  22. @snapper - Thanks for posting that video. It made really interesting viewing.
  23. It's my brother's birthday also. Mind, you guys [IRM] have done more in the last five years that he has his whole life. Congratulations and a big thank you for all of the wonderful models you've created.
