It's the hot flushes that get me down , especially in the current heat waves! Roll on the Winter when I should have had the radiotherapy and be off the hormones! I've had my moneys worth out of the NHS in the last few years.

Fortunately they seem to be the only side effects I’ve had so far although they seem to be less frequent now - or just less apparent in the heat.

I thought I’d got away with it but my hair started falling out on Tuesday and has continued to do so.

Not sure which look to go for…

- Resin body cleaned up and sprayed with white primer.  
- Hornby Class 73 chassis cut and shut to size with plasticard reinforcement.
- Sides cut from Hornby bogies and replacements grafted on.

Phoenix “CIE Golden Brown” enamel airbrushed on.

Self adhesive car wheel balancing weights fixed to chassis.   I got a big box full of these quite cheaply several years ago before they started being sold as single strips to railway modellers at exorbitant prices.

I think you can still buy them cheaply in bulk from automotive sources / car parts suppliers.

Befriend your local tyre dealer, the weights often get thrown away. the metal only discolours .

Not much progress today - modification of cab roof paintwork and buffers fitted.

Rear face of buffer headstock trimmed so that bogies can rotate freely.

Silver Fox provides cab glazing in the form of a small clear vac-formed sheet.  

Unfortunately the cabside windows don’t fit the openings in the body so are pretty useless.  

The cab front glazing is a better fit but each window panel needs to be trimmed to fit as the inside surface of the body is quite rough.

Another issue is that the plastic used for the glazing can’t be stuck with poly cement, super glue or MEK - presumably Mr Silver Fox uses Copydex…

I used pva to set the cab windows as best as possible.

I've used this with reasonable success in similar-looking situations.

Handrails and glazing fitted.  I used panels cut from an acetate sheet fit the cab side windows.

Copydex doesn't dry clear, if I remember correctly, but cures into a soft beige gum rubbery substance.

Microsol "Krystal Kleer" or similar will set clear. I've used it mostly for signal spectacle glass.

The pva has worked fine.  The main issue is that the inside surface of the bodyshell is rough and uneven so a snug fit of the glazing is difficult.  

A coat of Pledge Clear seals everything in and cleans up the glazing.
