gph2000 Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 This article appeared in the journal today - https://www.thejournal.ie/lilt-replaced-fanta-5994858-Feb2023/ But it quotes from one "Martin Attock" Quote
connollystn Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Not totally off topic, waiting for IRM to make their next major announcement is thirsty work. 1 Quote
Broithe Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 The Fanta brand name has an interesting history. It was conceived as an alternative to Coca Cola when US sanctions against Nazi Germany caused supply difficulties. 2 Quote
Westcorkrailway Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Never ever had it, nor have seen it in stores for years Quote

connollystn Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Great video. Fanta is the short for 'fantastic' but that drink is anything but. I'll stick to my Club Orange - the best soft drink in the world.* 2 Quote

Mayner Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 A direct descendant of Martin Atock an Australian engineering academic bought one of my MGWR 2-4-0 kits. Unfamiliar with railway modeling, he had un-conventional ideas about motorising the loco. Made it clear that his surname was spelt Atock not Attock. 3 Quote
mmie353 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Well at least I know the next time I go to the store to pick up a bottle. I always loved a bottle of lilt, I wonder now that is part of the Fanta brand if we see it over here in the US in normal stores. Quote
Mayner Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Used to drink Lilt and Sprite back in the day, but gave up on fizzy drinks about 20 years ago due to as they played havoc with my teeth, paid off with very few fillings and lower dental bills. These days my favourite tipple is crushed apple juice, I usually get an attack of gout after I drink one of our excellent malt rich beers , at least I am still (just about) capable of playing trains. I like crushed apple juice also. It's produced by Bulmers and it's very tasty. Quote

Galteemore Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Although Bulmers made a significant contribution to the UK preservation scene. All those apples didn’t die in vain. https://www.kentrail.org.uk/bulmer_cider_train.htm 2 1 Quote
