Wow!  Open door - looking through the building.... I can just see the cobweb behind the door, the dank smell inside, since it hasn't been open since last September when Clogherhead Parish went off to Lough Derg, courtesy of a train to Omagh and a bus from there...

Oul creepers up the building too - CIE, get someone out to clean the place up a bit!

Excellent work as always!

Some more scenic work today - the bank between the bay platform line and the church has been looking quite bare so out came the scatter material and foliage and now it looks a bit different.  The secret is to use a subtle variety of shades to make it look as realistic as possible.

Now I have to go to work........ :(

Spotted a nice pack of trees in my local Hobbycraft and lo and behold they are now on the layout!

Another detail added too, a war grave commemorating the crash of a Vickers Wellington and the loss of her Canadian air crew.

One of the first structures I built for this project was a disused tea room, but as the layout developed I realised the the room was a bit too large....... appropriate surgery was undertaken by removing a portion of the building's rear and thankfully the patient has emerged without any lasting damage.

Bedding in and landscaping shall commence in due course.

Only seeing this now. Fantastic and highly original detail. It’s things like that which make layouts of any size, big or small, fascinating to study.

The latest in my ‘Late Night Scratchbuild’ series….. I thought if the original GNR sand office wasn’t fit for purpose, but the sand traffic had to continue, then surely they would’ve provided a Portakabin…..

And yes, it has a fully detailed interior…..

This may cause offence, but are those triang coaches being hauled by the GNR tank?

My dear Metro,

Patrick can be offended if he likes,

but the four wheel van is a Quality Produce, courtesy of yours truly (Patrick is a valued and revered customer of long standing)

STILL AVAILABLE FROM  PROVINCIAL WAGONS.

Every home (layout) should have one!!

Yes - acceptable to me as a reasonably accurate representation of elderly GNR(I) carriages 😂

Had a very enjoyable day trip to Clogherhead today. I must say the original station building has weathered well. The dimly lit interior is like being in a time warp.

The tearooms were closed (looked like they had been for a while) but we had the foresight to bring a packed lunch and so we just sat in the deckchairs down on the beach, eating our sandwiches and digging our toes into the Clogherhead sand. We'd have hired a dingy for a spell round the bay but there was no sign of Rowan Boats and being the good citizens we are, we wouldn't have taken one without paying.

Some interesting motive power came past while we dozed in the weak sunshine. These beasts make a mighty racket when they get together.

We were so engrossed in loco spotting, we missed the last train out but there's always a bus.

Thanks Patrick. It was a blast. Brilliant layout. A credit to you.

Might as well follow Leslie's example and jump on the 'as seen at Clogherhead" bandwagon 🤣

Likewise Patrick is a valued customer

The photos nicely bring out the level of detail in the JM Design GSWR/GSR/CIE Covered Wagons possibly waiting for a consignment of fish on the "Perishable" for the Dublin Market.

All credit to Alan and Patrick for the photos.

Just a handful of RTR wagons including an ex-GSWR Van left https://jmdesignmodelrailways.com/collections/rtr-models
