The derelict office has now been bedded in with foliage: And I’m not sure about this one but I have had an old Ratio crane in the ‘to make’ box for a few years thinking it would find a place at Brookhall Mill but it never did so I fired it together for Clogherhead. The idea is that the GN experimented with specially constructed containers for easier loading and unloading of the sand but the system didn’t work….. not sure it looks right but maybe it’ll grow on me! Mayner Posted October 6, 2023 Share Posted October 6, 2023 A Dundalk-Tuam Beet special operated up to the closure of the Tuam factory at the end of the 84/85 Campaign, Navan would have been served by a trip working to and from Drogheda. I was stopped by a very long Tuam-Dundalk empty special at Coolmine Level Crossing on my way home from work one Autumn evening in 84. Its possible Clogherhead might have loaded 2-3 wagons daily by a trip working from Drogheda in a similar manner to Fenit in its final years. In later years beet was usually unloaded directly by tipper lorry to the wagons from a raised section of the loading bank. Trucks would have been a mixture of Ford, Bedford and Dodge SWB 2 axle tippers with high wooden body owned by local hauliers rather than 'company' vehicles. Chimneys aren't my favourite thing to make because I invariably leave them to the end and then get really frustrated because they hold up the completion of the build, so this time I'm making them early on in the build. Thanks David Embossed plasticard painted with Burnt Sienna acrylic then DAS clay applied for the pointing. The side with the glazed panel is the platform side and the panel itself will have a canopy above it. The forecourt side will have a smaller canopy above the door. I am also currently thinking how the internal layout will be arranged and also considering having part of the building derelict, in keeping with the overall theme of the layout. I had these laser cut a while back, in thick card, and they do make the job a good bit easier. Window sills next then window frames. Patrick Davey Posted October 27, 2023 Author Share Posted October 27, 2023 More work on decorating the walls of the station building today - the wooden glazed panel has been given a coat of CIÉ 1960s green (thanks @jhb171achill!), window sills have been added and the polychromatic brickwork has been tidied up. But I was under the impression that he was there on the Saturday.
