I've almost regained some of my hearing. But the last couple of times I've tried to go from Manchester to London (nominally a direct 2-hour journey with 2 or 3 trains an hour) it has taken 4 or 5 hours and I've ended up standing all the way. I've lost all confidence in train travel, despite having to rely on it as I don't drive. 1 Quote

According to the IE website there will be a line closure between Newry and Dublin from 19th to 21st April. Both DD services. They will make it. 100%. I’ll make sure! 1 Quote

NIRCLASS80 Posted Saturday at 20:18 Posted Saturday at 20:18 I love the positive vibes this thread has. It always goes down the same hole. The DD mileage per casualty is as good as any other service with 30 year old loco hauled stock. The Transport for Wales class 67 mk4 combination has a worse failure rate but are often able to hide this as they have a lower availability requirement. The 201’s have had a pounding with 30 years front line service. Soon we will all complain about the new enterprise stock being a plastic bucket and not a real train. 4 1 Quote

And with the hourly service are being asked to do much more in their old age. Don't really know what people expect, if a DD or 6-car ICR goes down, there's only so much regulators and inspectors can do to juggle around and figure out what they can make up the train with. If you've bought first class you should be refunded for the difference. Regarding seating, sometimes the reservation system doesn't work (usually some kind of technical issue when they change ends) but otherwise, if you've booked a seat and somebody is sitting in it, you can tell them its your seat. If they are the very occasional prick who doesn't care and wants to hog, the CSO will tell them what's what. People are not telepathic. I cannot speak to what its like in England. 2 Quote
