Riversuir226 Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Seriously impressive rake of Taras, and a lovely paint job on the Mk3s. (i'm on catch up tonight.) Alan Thanks Alan:tumbsup: Quote
Riversuir226 Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 A little something to get me back into the groove I m still in two minds whether to make it into a weedsprayer van or a normal gsv, so i ll start on the chassis. I ll be adding bachmann sprung buffers and a few other little extras. Quote
Guest hidden-agenda Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Nice kit Tom silver fox I take it?. Quote
scahalane Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I wonder would the mk1 under frame from the free carriage with 'Your model railway village' mag serve as a suitable runner for this? Quote
Riversuir226 Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Nice kit Tom silver fox I take it?. Yep, i really enjoyed making my last one. First one with a kit built chassis though!!! I wonder would the mk1 under frame from the free carriage with 'Your model railway village' mag serve as a suitable runner for this? This is what i was thinking when i picked up a few of the coaches but alas the kit has better detail so i ll be sticking with the kit chassis and maybe repaint the mk 1s into black & orange for a "preserved rake" plus change the gangway for a narrower one and a little other detailing. Glenderg Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 tom, fair play you always have a pot on the boil. looking forward to either egv or weedspray variety, though i fall into the heirflick school of yellow fever! Quote

Theres one or two alright, i chickened out of doing a weedvan i ve a feeling that using a bachmann rtr coach as a donor would be an easy one. underframe marked out and trusses built up Vs attached, tanks and other little details from the kit added Changed the buffers and added hoses plus pipes Edited September 3, 2013 by Riversuir226 Quote
Riversuir226 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 The evil plan is hatched, one of my 6 euro bargain coaches is to be converted to a weedspray van, 5 are going into service as my preserved rake in green livery. And two will be for future projects. Let the fun begin!! Quote
Riversuir226 Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Making a bit of progress:p A lot of sanding to do!!!! Quote
gm171 kk Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 You're giving me ideas now Tom. Nice work . Quote
RedRich Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Looking good Tom. Are the bogies clip in like the Cravens. If so get a pair of B5 bogies from Replica Railways they are smashing. I have a few pairs stored away somewhere for future use. Rich, Quote
Warbonnet Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Looking good Tom. Are the bogies clip in like the Cravens. Rich, They are Rich, faint whiff of Bachmann off them. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Thanks for the comments lads:tumbsup: Rich thanks for the tip on the B5 bogies, i may have to graft the spigots from the coaches bogie to the replacement bogie as the heights are different by a few millimeters. I ve removed the supplied trussing except for the four cross beams and i ll be adding some new L sections, along with scratchbuilding the fuel tanks etc. Quote
Warbonnet Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 This build on RMWeb might be of use when it comes to the underframe and bogies Tom http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/75578-my-ymrv-mk1-hack/ Quote
RedRich Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I've been following that thread myself. The DC Kit's models are lovely models when built. Nigel Burkin built a rake years ago and they are smashing. Rich, Quote

Kirley Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 You have just reached that point in any build where it just seems to go on and on but as you say the major work is completed and your enthusiasm will return as the time you can run it on the tracks comes neared. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 Nearly to the paintshop:tumbsup: Quote
Riversuir226 Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Nice shiny new 222 not for long though:p. As with nearly all my 2O1 fleet a change of no was needed so out with the ear buds and a little whitespirits to start the transformation to 234 After a few minutes of rubbing the numbers come away nicely:) After a quick break to let the area dry a little kclear was applied to help with the new decals Edited September 26, 2013 by Riversuir226 Quote
enniscorthyman Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 That's a great build on the van Tom,some nice detail. I have been thinking about changing numbers on some of my own locos,it's nice to get a view of it being done. Quote

Nice one Eamonn if your doing any 2O1s i have loads of spare number decals. Its a bit nerve racking putting white spirits near a model but once you try it the results are worth it. Wish i done it this way with 226 Quote
