Seriously impressed with these coaches. Magnificent, not my era or region, but they ran in Ireland so had to get a rake. Stunning models. Took them for a test run yesterday, the DVT because it needs a decoder to run on DCC or it buzzes. Support helped me understand their guidance. Will have to put passenger inside and do a little mild weathering. Time travel on the main layout yesterday. Detail is sublime.

The NIR mk2 DVT needs a decoder if placed on DCC track (ie to get rid of the short and buzzing noise). So fitted a Lenz decoder to the driving trailer yesterday. Easy to get the body off following the instructions. To safely remove the blanking plate and insert the 21pin decoder in I removed the roof level PCB (easy 2 screws). Then popped it on the test track to give the decoder address 916. Body cable easily unplugs from the PCB. Easy Peasy. Magic wand works to turn the main coach interior lights on and off but not the front end of the coach since decoder fitted. I can't figure out which functions switch the other lights on or off other than the usual F0 for the running lights which alternate between white and red based on direction chosen. Very nicely engineered model. It would have been nice if the interior lights worked out of the box on DCC track without opening up the body to fit a decoder. The interior lights in other coaches and my other two sets work fine on DCC track out of the box using just the magic wand.  Will have fun with these when I've completed the respray of IR 085 into NIR 112 livery. Happy days.

Out of my era but having seen them close up, the detail is amazing - they are certainly akin to the underparts of a canine........

Not my era either but they ran in Ireland and the livery is fabulous looking. Don't think they were pushed for the last 20 years of their life, just hauled so the DVTs were probably just a sort of brake van.

I saw them in Malahide on Sunday for the first time (first time out there too - kudos, @jhb171achill on the work you and your colleagues have put in), and I thought they looked very well indeed. Its a very eye-catching livery, and I'm almost regretting not picking them up when I had the chance - even though my interests lie more along former GSWR territory.

You've built up quite the fleet there @Noel!

Drop support a line with your order reference

Now done, thanks. Just another question but is the TPE Mk5 Driving Trailer lighting decoder with stay alive suitable for the NIR Mk2 Driving Trailer lighting?

Probably cheaper and easier to wait until people get in touch and request them.

Branching off from that question, let's say somebody bought a pack of NIR coaches, doesn't bother requesting the correct bogies for them, then sells them on.

Will the subsequent buyer be entitled to free replacement bogies, or have to buy them?

Has anybody tried retrofitting the new IRM bogies onto a Murphy Models Mk2D coach?

And has anybody tried swapping out the narrow gauge British bogies on the IRM NIR coaches for the Irish gauge ones?

Maybe @BosKonay could merge this duplicate NIR Mk2B/C thread with the main one here:

https://irishrailwaymodeller.com/topic/10440-irm-announce-nir-enterprise-mark-2-coaches

Silly to be spamming the forum with duplicate threads on the same topic.

Hi @Georgeconna, as I explained in my response to your email, the forum is not an official support channel and is not monitored for that purpose. We're always available to provide support via email, live chat, SMS and social media PMs.

Hope you will be pleased with the replacement bogies which will be winging their way to you shortly! :D

Dual-posting here in both of the current IRM NIR Mk2BC threads, so apologies in advance for that, but it's the only way to get around the thread-duplication right now.

My replacement Irish gauge bogies arrived with @murphaph last week.

@Garfield was incredibly fast at getting them shipped, like, I think they shipped within a day of us speaking to confirm the quantity.

Long story, but my coaches had to ship to @murphaph rather than me, so it made sense to send the bogies there - plus nobody knows how the dreaded pencil pushers in Madrid would react to a zero-value shipment, dun dun duuuuunnnnn!

While fitting the bogies to the coaches for me, @murphaph sat one of the older Bachmann coaches on top of two, just for fun.

Note, these aren't fitted to the coach, they're just sitting loosely underneath, but give an idea as to how the coaches would look when retro-fitted.

The Irish gauge bogies are available to buy from IRM at €20 per pair for retro-fitting, here:

https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/accessories/products/53-b4-bogie-pack-black

Have to say, they look absolutely savage sitting under that coach!
