timmycork Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Got a bit of track laid over the last few days, going ok, the zuron track cutter makes laying the flexi track easier than I thought it would be. Main change is the arrival of my dcc system, after lots of researching into it I ended up buying a Roco Z21, it is controlled by wifi so I connected the iPad and iPhone to it, works good. Took a few screenshots of the app going on the iPad, (not much happening on the layout, only 5 foot wired) First pic is my train screen, this is where you add locos, I added my 5 locos and used the pic from the web (you can also just take a pic) Next pic is the main driver screen, adjust speed, turn lights on off and swipe to select loco Next is driver screen again, this time with points control on right, I have no dcc points but this does tempt me!! This is the programming screen My 229 on the track 1 1 Quote
krose Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Excellent stuff Timmy, your layout is progressing nicely. the Roco controller looks very impressive too. 1 Quote

Dave Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Coming along nicely, can the Z21 do consists yet? Quote
timmycork Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 No Dave, not yet anyway. It's a pity but hoping an update in software in the future might sort it out but happy with the system as it is. 1 Quote
timmycork Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Might be wrong on that Dave, http://www.ekmpowershop2.com/ekmps/shops/aandhmodels/roco-z21-part10-multi-traction---consists-1262-c.asp Might be a bit complicated but can be done Must watch the video when I get a chance 1 Quote
timmycork Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Hi all, First update in a while, Christmas saw the addition of sound to the layout with 2 locos (210 and 7078) now running sound, also got a few timber wagons and a pocket wagon, will respray these when I feel confident in my airbrushing!! Here are a few pics of the container siding Also have added a siding off where my main station will be, this will be used for coaches Had been thinking of using this siding for a goods shed I have, and maybe make it into a program track, what do ye think? Edited January 23, 2014 by timmycork attachments not working right 2 Quote
Sulzer201 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Lovely layout in the making here and love the rolling stock. Congratulations on adding the sound fitted locos. Looking forward to developments. 1 Quote
timmycork Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Hi all, Progress has been slow on the layout of late, busy time at work so hopefully will get little pieces done away. I have added to my rolling stock with a few more pocket wagons but these have stayed in the box while I attempted to add a background. Here are the results, I went with a fine day in mind!! 1 Quote
burnthebox Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Timmycork, looking just mega, layout is coming along just fine, I particularly like the container area, 1 Quote

timmycork Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Finally got round to unpacking wagons now that the layout is becoming a safer place, set them up for a few pics...... Lighting could really do with some improving 2 Quote
timmycork Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 Hi all, Not spent much time in attic of late but have picked up a few bits and started making a wall from modelrailwayscenery.com, I find it took a bit of time but it looks well. Only have a few sections up but here is a video of a train running!!! Quote
heirflick Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 nice one Timmy....wouldnt mind being inside that pub watching the freight trains go past! 1 Quote
timmycork Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 nice one Timmy....wouldnt mind being inside that pub watching the freight trains go past! You could certainly put down an afternoon or two there 1 Quote
timmycork Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 Had a pm on the cars in video. They are 1:87, ho scale, Wiking models. Took a few pics here to compare to oxford oo scale, they are much smaller but I think are still a nice addition, what do ye think? Pic is of a golf, Garda transit, caddy and a passat 1 Quote
rebelred Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Not bad at all Tim, thought they would look really out of place but they don't Quote
timmycork Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 No I would say they are fairly passable on an 00 gauge layout. Especially when the choice available for modern cars is poor,. Having said that the prices on the official shop are crazy, €12.50 for the Golf. eBay is the way to go. 1 Quote
rebelred Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Thanks Timmy, I agree about the poor selection of modern cars, will have a look on ebay later Quote
timmycork Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Put together a small fleet of container lorries to service the container yard 2 Quote
timmycork Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Got a few bits done to the container yard area Used scalescenes prints for the ground Resprayed an old Lima container crane 1 Quote
rebelred Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Coming along nicely there Timmy! P.S. If you crop a small bit off the photos they'll upload the right way coz they're either too wide or too tall. Quote
BosKonay Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Looking great! Those prints look the business, and the crane is brilliant! Quote
timmycork Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 The respray helped improve the crane alright. Was very toy like, Must get some decals to finish it off, I was very pleased how the scalescenes textures came out, bit tricky to have no air pockets and keeping the sides from lifting but worth the effort. Thanks for the encouragement though, lots more to do!!! 1 Quote
timmycork Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Finally got back to doing a bit on the layout, hoping to make good progress on this side over the next few weeks but for now.... 1 Quote
jhb171achill Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 If this is a "newbie", it's a seriously impressive one! Well done timmycork, great progress. 1 Quote
