Eiretrains Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Thanks guys Brilliant work, as always. I was at the harbour in Banagher a few weeks ago... there really is next to nothing left of the railway there. My girlfriend's friend's family live in the town and have a photo on their wall of the station during steam days. Must try and get a copy of it... Yes nothing at all left of the station, one of those disappointments when tracing an old line to come to the terminus and nothing to be seen! There are a few photos, and a very interesting and detailed history of the line by J.P O'Dea in one of older IRRS journals (will have to check the number). Quote
Gordon71 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Late last night 16.9.12 NIR sent the 4 car 80 Class Sandite train 8094-8752-8097-8090 to Portadown to haul stored 80 Class Powercar 8069 which was stored in the south sidings back to York Road Depot . Csalem Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Hi all, Today 29007 hauled two of the Alsthom DART (8201/8401 & 8203/8405) from Fairview EMU Depot to Inchicore Works in Dublin. These sets have been in long-term storage, having last seen use a number of years ago. Managed to get the movement at Dublin Connolly: And Dublin Pearse: More pictures here: http://smu.gs/QiMr7Z Enjoy! Quote
RedRich Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Some lovely photos Cathal. I am not really a huge fan of the DMU - EMU's but they are a permanent fixture of todays railways. If you get a chance to photograph all the details of the non fire extinguisher side of a 201 chassis (like those you took of 226's chassis) on your travels I would really appreciate it as I won't be doing any photographing myself for a while. BabyGM Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Superb photographs I always liked the 8200's despite my hatred of railcars for some strange reason Quote
Warbonnet Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 It's a pity they're out of service, they were attractive units externally. Pity that the seats made you feel like you're sitting on the toilet. Quote
thewanderer Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 29007 hauled stored 8200 Class vehicles 8401 + 8201 + 8405 + 8203 from Fairview to Inchicore today. For export or further storage? Time will tell... http://smu.gs/QjFNhQ Quote

josefstadt Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 The certainly were (are) the most attractive DART stock externally, though, as Warbonnet says, the seating left a lot to be desired. That said they had become something of an eyesore in Fairview and a bad advertisement for the DART. One thing intrigues me: why were 8203 and 8405 paired for the move rather than being with their original partner vehicles? Quote

Rich, Thanks. Will try but getting to a location which allows side on shots of a 201 is a bit difficult. Have managed to get some shots of an 071 today which may help modellers detail their new 071 model. Pictures are full resolution, which is about A2 in size: http://smu.gs/Qlk3SV Quote

thewanderer Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Afternoon all, I spent last weekend in London for the London Underground A Stock Farewell Railtour. After a career spanning 52 years the A60/A62 stock was given a sendoff by London Underground with a farewell railtour to all destinations on the Metropolitan Line on Saturday 29th September 2012. The railtour left Moorgate at 0955 and travelled to Watford, after a reversal at Watford the tour proceeded around the Watford North Curve to Rickmansworth and onwards to Chesham where a quick photostop was permitted. After Chesham the tour headed to Harrow-on-the-Hill to reverse and return to Amersham where a 45 minute break was taken. From Amersham we headed back to Harrow-on-the-Hill yet again to reverse and travel down the Uxbridge Branch of the Met. Another quick turnaround and the tour headed to Aldgate for one last visit with another quick reversal before a storming run to Wembley Park where the tour terminated. At Wembley Park the train reversed and went empty to Neasden Depot. Opportunities for photographs during the day were limited with photographs only permitted at Moorgate, Chesham, Harrow-on-the-Hill (once), Amersham and Wembley Park due to the very tight timetable for the tour. Photos from the tour are now online at: http://smu.gs/P4OPni The rest of the weekend pictures from Friday and Saturday are now online at http://smu.gs/QRMIiw featuring: - Heathrow 1,2 & 3. - Finchley Road. - Wembley Park - Class 20's at Neasden Depot. - Liverpool Street and Stratford - Moorgate - Docklands Light Railway. Plus on Saturday afternoon I took a "flight" on the Emirates airline cable car across the River Thames. The route only opened in the Summer of 2012 and offers spectacular views of East London. There will be a 2nd batch of photos from Sunday uploaded tomorrow (Tuesday) which will feature a procession of Ballast Trains returning to Ruislip Depot after weekend engineering works. Enjoy, The Wanderer. Quote
