Hi Guys,

Here are a few of my latest projects:

Rescued some 6 battered MKI from a box at swap meet. repainted to CIE green. Just awaiting transfers and new bogies.

Repainted from Blue/Grey MKII Lima Coaches. Only waiting on Transfers.

Took on Improving MR141. Some detailing and weathering to be done.

Also tried it on the MR201. Some detailing and weathering to be done.

Also, just a tip for anyone trying to improve the look with Kadees etc, I used the coupling holder from the loco instead of Plasticard. In the 201, i found removing the coupling armature, easy to do once body is removed, gave the space needed behind the skirt.

Many more to follow so I will be posting as I go.

Cheers.

Decided to take the idea for the NIR 450 Castle class and try it for myself.

Bean with the Bachmann First Northern 150/1 sets, of which i bought 2 and began looking up the pictures.

here are the results of my efforts so far:

WP_000116.jpg

WP_000117.jpg

Also a second livery struck me as being a nice change:

WP_000118.jpg

WP_000119.jpg

Some minor touching up and light weathering to be added.

Still work to be done with transfers, on the motor ends creating vents etc and middle cars.

Will also be doing something similar with the Bachmann Class 170/2 3-car units.

Hi All,

Been a while since i have had the time to do any projects.

Setting up the layout & shed has taken some of my time, and my daughter has got the rest of it.

However, recently with the longer days, I have gotten out to the workshop and got modelling again.:trains:

Here are my latest exploits:

Mk4 DVT from a Pendolino - Still awaiting glazing and grills.

Welcome back after the new year guys!

There appears to be quite a bit of modelling going on in the last few weeks, so i thought I would put in my 2 cents worth.

Currently on the bench are 2 ongoing conversions from Warley purchases.

Hornby LMS 4MT for RPSI No.4 - (inspired by previous conversions seen on here)

LMS 4MT.jpg

and Hornby S&DJR 2P for RPSI S Class "Slieve Guillon" - (something different)

s&djr 2P Hornby.jpg

Progress pictures will follow in a few days once I get the camera back out.

There is more on the bench awaiting completion, delayed due to lack of paint supplies etc.

Here's to another year of good modelling and many more announcements.

Hi All,

A couple of weeks break from the trains to build a gift for my dad.

An 1:144 Revell Concorde kit, assembled, painted and decals all to add to his ever growing collection of model planes.

This was a nice change to build and went together quite well with very little filing.

Lining transfers were a bit of bother, having to be broken up into numerous pieces to make it manageable, even then would not stay put.

Absolutely excellent paintwork and conversions!

Small hint (in helpful sense)... Maybe paint the red con rods on the "D" to black?

Like the early 450 red and cream, an unusual livery on layouts. Looked very well indeed in real life when new.

Hi JHB,

Looking back at the D Class, it is something that would benefit with black con rods.

Will have to add it to the ever growing list of jobs to get round to.

Now that Concorde has been delivered to its hanger for display, I could get back to the tasks at hand.

One that has been on the list for a while is my Tara Mines, so long in fact the glue on the boxes has given way.

Couple of hours have produced the early stages of 7 Tara Mines wagons from 6 Dapol IOAs.

Whilst detail, painting and transfers are still required, I found it to be fairly straight forward conversion so far.

Hope you enjoy!

Fresh out of the box:

Bogies and underside detail removed:

2 end sections remaining:

Comparison in length of original and shortened:

Tara 6th.jpg

6 of the 7 being glued:

Tara 7th.jpg

The 7th wagon is made up of the 6 centre offcuts with some plastic card ends made up.

A freebie really.

Will post more progress of this project in the next 2 weeks as I get back out to the shed (after the rugby of course)

Little more work done on a few bits and pieces in the last few weeks.

Have been spending a lot of time installing point motors, 28 in all, building and programming Accessory decoders, 7 of these, and designing layout on Hornby eLink.

So far 3 points are working and all track is live, controlled from a centrally installed touch screen monitor.

In the spare few minutes away from under the layout, the Jeep is progressing.

A repaint, transfers, number plate and crew will make it I think.

Thanks for posting this update. Very good work. I am particularly interested in the DART conversion. I work in N gauge and bought a class 350 for conversion to a class 8500 series DART but was unsure about how the end should look. This is a good reference. I am not inclined to cut out the doors as in N gauge the amount of recess is not so significant but I will make them abit more central.

Well guys, I'm back!!!!

Sort of anyways. House move has been completed, but the decorating list is ever growing.

Railway room and work space (20'x14') will have to wait until later this year or next year, so for the time being, I will be endeavoring to complete some projects and build up my rolling stock.

In this vein, I got some time to sit last week and begin the build of some wagons.

Firstly, SSM Ammonia, followed by a resin barrier wagon acquired from Georgeconna.

Bogies, detailing and paint to be added, but its getting there.

I'm hoping in the summer months, this workbench will spring into life again, getting through a few of the half done projects and with many more updates, so stay tuned!!

2018 was the last post 😬

A lot has happened since then. Another house move a year ago now, to County Wexford, from Dublin.

Hopefully now I can get back on more regularly🤞(with assistant Wall-E). Today got a few hours to get a bit done.

Pallet Cement (chassis from older kits), and NIR Ballast repaint from Hornby EWS SeaCow. Going for fairly used weathering on both accounts.

Transfer, Weathering and minor touch ups left to complete the rakes.

There is something to be said for a bit of bad weather. Rain way to much to be wandering.

Gave me a few hours over last 3 days to get more works done.

NIR Ballast beginning transfers and weathering, then seal and reassemble.

How close are the seacows to the NIR ballast hoppers? They look incredible!

I think they make very good representations of them.

Believe several were brought over from BR, just not sure if the very same wagon, or modified, once in use on NIR network.

Another weekend, again more rain, means one thing.......more modelling 🙂 F1 and rugby on in the background.

Bit of motive power this time. My Jeep ready for transfers and details pack to be put on. 20230723_164857.thumb.jpg.38dcb1a1b563dc88e2f17c982e94afd8.jpg

And another in the works, No.171 "Slieve Gullion". Still a bit to go on this one, but getting there.

Rolling stock from last week will be completed when couplings and transfers arrive.
