Gortalainn Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 A friend of mine found a 201 on DoneDeal, what do ye think? Here's the link: https://www.donedeal.ie/hobbies-for-sale/irish-rail-201-class-locomotive-old-intercity/15655588 Quote
DiveController Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 I saw that. I was considering it but difficult to get the cars by when its in the driveway. No matter Wrenn will be by shortly Quote
Colin R Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Good job this is not on Facebook otherwise you would have some one in the UK setting up a preservation society for it:trains: Quote
enniscorthyman Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 We could crowd fund its purchase. Surely someone has space for It? Quote

Colin R Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Besides a clapped out engine and bogies with hairline cracks, what else could possibly be wrong with it? Besides if this is genuine, anyone contacted either Downpatrick or the Irish Diesel loco group as it is more in their league? Quote
Tarabuses Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Linking two threads together, wouldn't it look well here: http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/victorian-saintfield-railway-station-goes-on-market-for-750k-31128107.html Quote
Colin R Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Every railway station should have one and either a few wagons or a coach or two. Quote

JasonB Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Inherited it? Their either taking the piss or have a couple of screws loose. Quote
Colin R Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Or just bored with nothing better to do. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is. I can't really see IE getting rid of them, as I think some body will want to know why, I read somewhere (I think it was in a past issue of Today's Railways a platform 5 publication) that they where going to refurbish the whole class over the next few years. Glenderg Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Someone is having a right laugh at your posts? That's not the right box. Wrenn won't touch it. Quote
jhb171achill Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 (edited) That's not the right box. Wrenn won't touch it. And it's the wrong shade of blue, with the wrong lettering style. And if the loco name is "Chuckles", does that mean it is one of Paisley & McGuinness' "chuckle brothers"? And if so, is that loco one'o'them, or one of us? Edited June 11, 2017 by jhb171achill Quote
jhb171achill Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Weathering's not bad though... I wonder is it DCC fitted? Quote
Colin R Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Weathering's not bad though... I wonder if it was done with an airbrush and acrylic or rattle can:D Quote
jhb171achill Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I wonder if it was done with an airbrush and acrylic or rattle can:D A "rattle can"; great name for a 201! 29000 railcars.......hmmm. Quote
Noel Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 A "rattle can"; great name for a 201! 29000 railcars.......hmmm. Ah now steady on, the poor 201 is a proper decent locomotive that hauls real trains and has the most comfortable cab. Perhaps "Rattle can" a more appropriate nickname for 2x00 bangladesh stock, and "Back Pain" for the ICRs. Quote

Bangladesh, Nepal, Ghana and Burkina Faso all rejected the 2600s... although they are used as dustbin trucks in Congo. Quote
