26 layouts - thats seriously impressive.  :-bd  Promises to be a superb exhibition in a great venue using the large open hall space instead of numerous pokey classrooms.

Popped down to Wexford on Friday.  Preparations for the Easter exhibition seemed in full flight.  hyper.gif

All I can say is wow, visitors are going to be blown away with what will be at the show.  It is great to see the clubs come together with so many layouts and exhibitors to promote the hobby an entertaining and innovative way.

Yep, both days. Let’s hope the impending weather of doom forecast for next weekend doesn’t impact the show!

You'll find a Provincial Wagons stand at the Show but regrettably not me.

Easter is a three-line whip in the family as I have to organise the Easter Egg Hunt (for my forty year kids!) in the garden of "Pettigo Fair" on Easter Sunday (after getting up for the 6.30am SONrise service, held on the banks of the Thames and then in a church that's mentioned in the Doomsday Book).

Having seen the list of layouts - well done Wexford - I know where I'd prefer to be!

Anthony McDonald will have a good selection of my kits with him, with an emphasis on CIE wagons. You'll have to wait for Raheny for my next new "CIE" wagon.

Best wishes to everyone for an enjoyable and successful exhibition.

Cheers Fran. Look forward to seeing you there on the Monday. Its the busiest of the two days anyway. You will be blown away by the truly massive O gauge layout. Forget A class, an IRM 0 gauge 141 might become the new holy grail. :)

Another Fab day down the 'not so Sunny' south east. Some new layouts on show and some Familiar faces and nice chats.

The Large O Gauge layout will be some draw for sure when complete. Looked Fab and only track on the boards. There was a nice small O Gauge layout too which showed what can be done in 7ft! Perfect.

Came away with no gifts for myself this time.  A book on Trolly Buses for me Dad was about it.

The Accurscale Hoppers were sublime, the detail under them was unreal.  A glass layout viewed from underneath is a must along with a Andrew Barcley Loco from Hattons and colliery and some serious weathering!

Definitely the premier Model Railway show in Ireland. Looking forward to next year.

Well done WMRC.

Have only been to a few shows but can now see why so many comments about Wexford being the best one around, great show, lots of friendly people willing to share their knowledge with a few complete novices. Many thanks to Brendan Buckley of Garrison Model Club who let me in around their displays to take a few photos and see how a few things were put together and also for all the tips and advice. Got chatting to a few people from the Wexford Club who also shared a bit of their knowledge. Just need to get a room cleared in the other halves house and put up our baseboards and start putting all this new found knowledge into practise.

Started anoter thread with some photos from today

I’ve finally had some time to sit down after a crazy busy weekend in the (not so) sunny south east. I’d like to extend a sincere thanks to all the guys and girls of the Wexford club who looked after me tremendously over the weekend, including running out to get me sandwiches on both days as I was unable to leave the IRM stand. It was my first time at the exhibition and I was impressed by the organization and venue. Very well done. Sadly I didn’t get much of a look at the layouts but heard lots of positive comments about what was on show.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the IRM stand to say hello, have a chat, check out the Tara and Accurascale hopper and of course those of you who made purchases.

Finally, I was approached by a large contingent from the club on Monday evening. Fearing I was getting evicted as they had found out what I got up to as a lad on holidays to Curricloe and Carne it turned out IRM had won an award for Best Model for the Tara!!! We’re blown away by it and thank the club sincerely! What a lovely bonus to finish off the weekend!

A small selection of photos from WMRC Layout Exhibition. An absolutely fabulous venue. Really enjoyed the exhibition, but what struck me more than the superb exhibits and trade stands was the friendliness of exhibitors and organisers who were delighted to engage with visitors and the public.  The large cafe seemed a huge success and wonderful place for both visitors and exhibitors to enjoy hospitality, socialise, enjoy a rest break from touring the exhibits and have a chat over a snack or coffee.

There were a number of layouts designed for children to operate. Below one of the 'Thomas' layouts being driven by children.

IMG_5455.jpg

Superb on site catering in the Station Cafe right beside the main exhibition hall. Great place for visitors to rest the legs.

IMG_5435.jpg

Fantastic venue reminds of the days decades ago when Dublin shows used to be in RDS halls.

IMG_5440.jpg

Large O gauge layout under construction - I understand WMRC had been working around the clock for the past few weeks to get this ambitious layout ready for the show.  The baseboard and electronics integration was impressive.  Looking forward to watching this layout evolve.

IMG_5439.jpg

N gauge layout - the detailed scenes and multiple landscape levels made this alive

IMG_5446.jpg

'Rosslare Strand' layout was stunning

IMG_5447.jpg

Love the way this layout had two visually interesting sections at each end before track returned behind the back scene to fiddle yard, one with a cliff face and beach, the other with steep rocky faced cutting.

IMG_5448.jpg

Military trains caught my eye - Menacing Tiger tanks hiding in the under growth.

IMG_5443.jpg

Next three pics are of the fabulous cement factory layout.

IMG_5449.jpg

IMG_5451.jpg

IMG_5452.jpg

There were many more fab layouts which I spent time enjoying rather than taking photos.

Superb hospitality and catering in the Station Cafe

IMG_5437.jpg

Great show, well worth the trip down. This was our first visit to this exhibition and to say we enjoyed it is an understatement. Great team effort and more than anything a really friendly and engaging bunch of folk participating. Seriously impressed with the organisation and especially the large venue.

Great to see clubs come together with exhibits and show the hobby off so well to the public.

I have to take my hat off to everyone involved in organising and exhibiting. It's a long jaunt from here but maybe someday i'll make it. Thanks for posting the photographs which were a pleasure to view and get plenty of ideas from.
