Ciotog Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I am nearly finished making a 'made-up' layout in the attic. I'll post a few pics in case anyone might be interested. It's my first effort, so it's still a bit raw. Quote

Ciotog Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Thanks for the compliments, lads. I went to school in Carrowmore, Lacken many years ago and thought that it would be fun to construct an imaginary layout based on Carrowmore and Lacken. I had'nt thought of doing a video, but that's a good idea - once I work out how to go about it. In the meantime, I'll post some more photos. The round tower in Killala - took ages to do! Taxi waiting A view of the viaduct with a small stream Underneath, having a paddle 1 Quote
BosKonay Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 The more I see, the more I want to see Looks fantastic What did you use for the water? really captures it well! Quote
Ciotog Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 The mythical station at Carrowmore with a ruined church in the background, as some ramblers go for a stroll. Great name for a garage!!! Part of the work section. My take on Lacken Junction! Quote
Ciotog Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Last one today. I should have posted this first - it's the rough plan and the dimensions. Quote

Hunslet 102 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Great looking layout, the scenery and river look fantastic, well done and thanks for sharing Quote
Ciotog Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 For the water effect, I used 'Solid Water' It is a two part resin that needs to be mixed together and using sparingly, as it is about £10 for 90ml. I used Polyfilla for the base and put in some gravel while it was wet to give the effect of a riverbed. I painted it a light colour to get rid of the white and then added the mixed resin when the paint was dry. As the river runs into a small window, it picks up the light very nicely. I put a small 'bridge' - the bridge is actually a small tunnel emtrance with more foliage on top and down the sides - at the back, and glued a mirror behind it to give the impression that it continues on. A bit of foliage and grass along the banks add to the effect. Quote
BosKonay Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Just stunning and thanks for sharing this beautiful layout\! Quote
