  1. Saw that one for €700... Shocking price, but as @murphaph pointed out, "good" based on the standards set by today's gougers. €700 means €220 for the loco and €120 each for the four sets of Keg Liners... https://touch.adverts.ie/models/models-railways/26078965 Few "bargains" on eBay for comparison... Various 141's / 181's at €300 each: https://www.ebay.es/sch/kellystownbank/m.html €360 plus shipping: https://www.ebay.es/itm/265527750062 €390 plus shipping: https://www.ebay.es/itm/224834939186 €400 plus shipping: https://www.ebay.es/itm/115237546300 Fancy a coach or two? €150 each plus shipping: https://www.ebay.es/itm/144410223770 https://www.ebay.es/itm/144410223744 Not having a go at any of the sellers, it's a free market, but personally I find the hyper inflated prices shocking.
  2. Same here! No more crying because the old BritBus ones cost more than a loco. Wham bam thank you IRM! Special edition from IRM next time, maybe? Two FORMER Dublin buses!
  3. I see some green on this one! We're getting closer to the Holy Grail, two-tone green 1990's Dublin Bus!
  4. Outstanding! Why did the guy in the Qashquai pull the handbrake and start chasing down the Range Rover?
  5. How did you do all of the different destinations on the buses???
  6. I'm seeing MM, Lima, Bachmann and IRM in the title of each loco... EDIT: I'm reading them more and more slowly each time but the titles aren't changing... What kind of witchcraft is this?
  7. I'm confused... Are they MM, Lima, Bachmann or IRM? And when did IRM release 201's? The sly dogs!
  8. Were the little flats for the containers different to these flats? Were the dolomites just converted ballasts or were they different altogether?
  9. Something that I've been wondering about the "Ballast" chassis, or what we can probably call the "Classic" IRM chassis, is if IRM have any plans to introduce an easy to re-gauge version at some stage? Not wanting to remove the thunder of today's launch, by the way! The stage that I am at, personally, is collecting. I work too much, then do voluntary work at night, so even running trains in often takes me months. However, in ten or twenty years, that won't be the case, and I'll likely be faced with the mammoth task of re-gauging to 21mm... If all of the junk food and lack of exercise doesn't kill me before then. If IRM were to release a re-gaugable 22' chassis at some stage, onto which current bodies could be swapped, that would certainly remove some of the headache, but would probably be expensive for anybody with a large collection. I wonder if re-tooling the "Classic" 22' chassis to make it easy to re-gauge at some point would be likely? Then using the re-tooled re-gaugable version for future 22' releases, and offering it for sale with no bodies for anybody wishing to swap over the excellent bodies from any of the current 22' IRM range? I imagine that there would be an additonal cost involved for the first batch of wagons released with the re-tooled Classic chassis, but the cost of subsequent 22' wagon releases shouldn't be affected too much, I'd guess?
  10. They look stunning Had to order a rake immediately... Will definitely end up ordering more every payday, too. And to my pleasant surprise, the whole lot fits into a 2kg parcel so it's only €20 shipping down here!
  11. They don't look like they are ballast wagons underneath the lid.
  12. Hmmmmmmm... Those lifeboats had better be powered when they release them! Maybe beet wagons, if it's forcing Leslie to retire?
  13. I've bought from IrishMail a couple of times. Great seller to deal with, honest and reliable.
  14. I'm sure that IRM have had their own 071 and 141 ranges in stock the past year. They're just holding off on the release until the speculators (that's Murphaph and I, selling the same twenty locos to each other over and over again, earning commission from IRM) get the prices high enough for the release to go ahead. With all of the buyers frothing at the mouths, they'll sell out before the container is even opened.
  15. They're still running today, after what, 25 or 30 years? They've carried about three liveries. They've been everywhere on the network. So, they would appeal to (and sell to) a massive number of modellers. On the downside, they're less than sixty years old, have flat sides and never ran in black and tan, so Noel will lose his shit if they're released before an AEC railcar, burning his IRM stock at the stake. A low-detail 2600 at a glance seems like a great way to bring younger folk, and folk on a budget, into the hobby, but I have a hazy memory of Boskonay saying that there was no viable way of having a "Railroad" version of an IRM product on the shelves. Not fully sure on the exact quote, though.
  16. Not if your 70th is this year anyway! Boskonay said a year from samples to sales, so no samples means no sales. Still, he also said that there may be a "powered" announcement this year. My money is on a 2600, which would be frikkin' awesome, and would leave me closer to being homeless, but we could be even luckier if it turns out to be a 22000. Agreed, it IS bashing of everybody elses opinions, constantly at that, and it's inappropriate. It also leads to conflict. When people are goaded enough with the constant knocking of their opinions, they'll eventually retalliate and lash out in return, possibly lambasting the old stuff from before their time, that they don't remember. Then, one posts a survey to ask what people would buy, multiple choice options, and because of ones own negativity, those who may have bought stuff from previous eras now say no way, only my era.
  17. But nothing! It's exactly the same operationally. Back and forth, no points required, only a circle of track required to run them etc. Hoping that we see a RTR 22000 some time soon.
  18. The Bachmann sets were British Class 158's re-painted into a 2600-ish livery. Chris Dyer's 29000's are three car British Class 166's repainted into Irish liveries. I have two of these on the way from Chris, but both are four-car units, not three-car units.
  19. Jesus, that's scarily niche knowledge there... What are you hiding? I vaguely remember the resin 201 bodies in Marks, but can't remember the 141 / 181 bodies. And the rest! Anybody wanting to get into railway modelling, Irish or otherwise, will look for something familiar, either what they see today, or what they remember from their youth. A multiple unit is also a very cost effective way of getting a model railway running, as a three-car unit is likely to be cheaper than a loco and two coaches.
