Just wondering if anybody else has come across Cavalex over the past year, and what they think of the models?

You Can't Beat A Bit of Bulleid - Open Wagons Next For IRM
DJ Dangerous replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
Brilliant stuff, @MAL! This is what I was wondering about for future Bulleid runs, future loose-coupled stock and future brake-vans. If the buffers were applied in the factory, but were friction-fit or NEM-pocket-style clipped in, rather than glued, and mounted on a reversible rectangular plate, IRM customers could then pop them off to swap them around as needed. You want to run an IRM brake-van coupled to an A or a Park Royal? Run it straight out of the box! You want to run that same IRM brake-van with the Bulleids? Ten seconds to swap the buffers around and you're sorted! -
I'm happy to volunteer some of my time and sign up if it's a bit boring for you on there. This: "We have people who find sport in causing issues - one chap is adept at posting ambiguous comments, then claiming that he meant the less obvious version, when challenged." And this: "People sign up to start arguments, then sign up again to agree with themselves." ...had me in tears! You sure you're not talking about our own forum?

Love that 50!

Quite possible that some of our members either don't remember, or never experienced, the pre-social-media days of well-moderated internet fora, and the inevitable consequences of unmoderated chaos. God bless those internet cafes.

There's something very ironic about this whole thread, that I can't quite put my finger on.

Lovely stuff, as usual, @ttc0169, even if it's a few hours late. Tara Junction looking wonderful, and a great selection of stock, showcasing what a great year it's been for modellers - so far!

You big tease, you and your custom transfers!

Canarian Container Anorak
DJ Dangerous replied to DJ Dangerous's topic in Photos & Videos of the Prototype
Another non-container container-thread post, but a SAR mission this time. Sorry that the photos aren't great, but that chopper must have been at least 2km away. They were less than an hour before heading back to base, so hopefully they were successful. -
I'll censor myself for tonight, so. Or this morning, if I'm being pedantic.

Forum members in general. By "your", I meant both you and @derek. By "ours" I meant forum members in general. By "theirs" I meant the admin / mod team. The impossible balance between free speech and moderation. You can get it just about right most of the time but it'll always be too far one way or the other for certain circumstances.

You Can't Beat A Bit of Bulleid - Open Wagons Next For IRM
DJ Dangerous replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
Probably best to move this post into @Gabhal Luimnigh's thread HERE, in order to keep both threads on-topic. -
A lot of posts get removed. Sometimes, it isn't the post itself, but something like the timing, the wording, the context or lack thereof, maybe some innuendo, or even the interpretation. I've had a LOT of my posts removed, but sure it is what it is. Agree or disagree in the heat of the moment, we have to respect the moderators decisions. They have a lot of crap on their plates, both forum stuff and real-world IRM / A/S stuff, so sometimes have to make quick decisions. One piece of advice, for both @Gabhal Luimnigh and @derek, would be to speak with the mods in private. Even though it may not be your intention, starting a thread last week on censorship, then another this week, may be percieved by the admin as combative or gaslighting. I'm not saying that is your intent, and I apologise in advance if that's how this sounds, just that if you put yourself in their shoes, maybe you'd feel / do the same. Again, it's probably something best dealt with in private, for your sake, ours, and theirs.

Clogherhead - A GNR(I) Seaside Terminus
DJ Dangerous replied to Patrick Davey's topic in Irish Model Layouts
Forum image-uploader seems to be broken today. Best option is to edit the body of both posts. If I may suggest an infamous forum line for each: "Always wash your hands after soldering". "Don't eat yellow snow". -
You win the internet for today.

Stopped working about nine or ten last night, roughly. Last few successful image uploads were to the Bulleid Open thread and the H Van thread.
-
Yup! Tried several small images in different formats. Would post a screenshot, but, you know... Sorry, an unknown server error occurred when uploading this file. (Error code: Screenshot_20240718-123501.png could not be saved.)

Oh Lord, not another pun-itive comment, dragging us down to the bowels of literary wit. -

Yeah, the threads can get a bit, I dunno, rabid, at times, with people stamping all over anybody with different opinions etc, but this one is surprisingly pleasant, no tantrums nor attacks nor anything.
