  1. Manage to nab two more in Reads this evening on the way home for work. That'll do me for now. Now to plan what to do with them!
  2. Hi PVS and welcome to the forum! Feel free to ask any question you might have and I'm sure someone here will have the answer you need like Dave has done above!
  3. Very nice Patrick, I do like New Haven. I take it you're near old New Haven territory? Actually scratch that, I see you're in Ohio. Thought you were New York for some reason!
  4. Cheers man, they feature orange and black too so kinda relevant!
  5. Cheers man, will have a scout around today but if it turns up nothing I'll give you a shout!
  6. This build on RMWeb might be of use when it comes to the underframe and bogies Tom http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/75578-my-ymrv-mk1-hack/
  7. George has done a nice job on his. Still unsure what to do with my two, might try and pick another one up if I can find one. Will be BR related anyway. Maybe Postal or test coach related. That trussing has to go though.
  8. They are Rich, faint whiff of Bachmann off them.
  9. Looks super Patrick, really captures an era in Irish Railways that is sadly long gone and was well gone when I was born. Still a period I'm most interested in though.
  10. £69 and it's not even numbered at the side!?! Me arse. I'd be off to Marks or Seamus!
  11. You must have a rake at this stage! Picked up two today. Couple of people doing surgery with them on RMWeb. Following with interest to see what they do with them. I already have a Maroon Mark I rake built up!
  12. Chip the Colas 66? Look forward to see that running. Heljan class 16 arrived Monday, will bring it down for a run soon
  13. Ultimate DCC Gadget? Roco Beilhack Rotary Snow Blower, DCC fully functioning. Eye-watering price, but what a toy!
  14. He who cast the first stone my boy!
  15. No plastic at all involved would you believe Gareth. It was fantastic and there are plenty on here who can work wonders with a bit of card. It's great to see different techniques used as in Kirleys case. As Bosko says lets return to the workbench. Apologies for playing my part in going off topic there!
  16. I believe you have to write to the publisher for the loco and they send it out to you. No idea when it'll be out, but a Jinty on the cheap would be handy for NCC conversion maybe? I believe it'll be a low detailed take on the Bachmann model.
  17. Agree on 3D, but that can be enhanced with extra card like cornerstones etc to give it a 3D effect. Card can be remarkably strong too, look at Brendan's old bridge for instance. Didn't fall apart until he took a sledge to it and even then it put up a fight.
  18. I saw Bren's new station buildings last week which used card sheets. Looked very effective to me. Richie's buildings always look top notch too. I think both have their merits.
  19. Scale speed. Brendan would be able to tell you himself how long it is but it's worth remembering there are 6 or 7 levels involved.
  20. Top job on that goods shed. Looks really well!
  21. Hi and welcome! Do you mean long distance as in 'long running'? If so, then this layout is quite long, we've timed a train at about 25 minutes to do one complete circuit. http://www.irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/795-A4-Mallard-s-new-layout-Progress-so-far As for longest straight? I have no idea. More a 'gentle curves' man myself!
  22. Why? The privatisation of BR has been a disaster in lots of ways. When Railtrack was privatised there was a spate of accidents in the late 90s and it was then re-nationalised at great cost to become Network Rail. On top of that the privatised rail companies get five times the subsidies from the British Government than BR ever did. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/aug/13/rail-fares-passengers-renationalisation And that's before we get to the eye-watering fares! Privatisation will come for IE eventually thanks to EU rules, but it could end up being a disaster in itself.
  23. Maybe if IE spent the money on upgrading the most important parts of the business instead of overstocking on more railcars than were needed and kept the Mark IIIs going a while longer they wouldn't be facing these issues. But of course shiny new trains are the most visible thing to the customer.
  24. Sorry man, too busy concentrating driving 6 trains at once to shoot vid. Bren has some more to upload but YouTube was acting up. His channel is well worth a sub if you haven't already!
  25. Got to see the layout in the flesh yesterday. Seriously impressive stuff. Good running session with few incidents!
