  1. Just finished the bubble and I am happy with the result. I know the SSM brass detail would look better, but I just wanted to see how left over parts from the prestwin kit would look like when used with a bit of brass tube and wire. I did a small bit of weathering which helps any dodgy painting. Next on the workbench-IFM LC kit,and cement wagons to do and my ballast train upgrade plus SSM phone box kit.

I remember the Diverted Beet passing through Enniscorthy tunnel, I was delivering a parcel to a house that over looked the tunnel and what a sight-no camera though.
  3. A nice long rake, you did a great job Tom.
  4. I have been meaning to ask this question for ages as the first photo shows my Grandfather John Redmond engine driver on the right,in Ferns Station sometime in the 1920s,while the second photo shows him at Bray loco shed where he was based-he is in the middle of the front three guys, I think someone put a x over him, while the guy at the rear with a x over him is supposed to be from Enniscorthy. I know nothing about Irish Steam locos and would love to know what sort of loco is that in Ferns Station?and is it the same as the loco at Bray Station. And if anyone can identify the loco,is there a close model. And now everyone knows where my obsession with Irish railways comes from. John Redmond died in 1929 when my Dad was three. From what I have been told his normal run was to Enniscorthy from Bray.It was in the local Railway Hotel while having spuds one day that he met my Grandmother-the rest is history. Thanks. Eamonn.
  5. No,bloody cold in the shed Sheamus, hard to think straight out there sometimes, and I cant wait for longer evenings:banana:
  6. I just noticed a mistake that both ladders should be opposite each other on the tank.I will sort it out later.
  7. Another update on the bubble- I am using a gray undercoat for the body and from what I can see a few extra coats will be required as you can see the wood grain. I made the pipe area from the parts left over from the prestwin and a little bit of brass wire. The break pipe is not from the prestwin kit but from my own stock on hand. Some more detail to be done and then some paint and decals. And with a bit of luck she might look like this bubble a bit.
  8. I spent some time in the cold and damp shed tonight and did a bit of work on the cement bubble.I am trying to use as much as the parts that come with the prestwin kit as possible, and along with some some brass wire and scrap brass parts.I know the SSM kit would save time, but i am keen to see how this bubble turns out when finished and see what ye guys think of it.
  9. Bubbles look great Kieran, and 045 is looking and running well.
  10. Very nice and cant wait to see it finished.
  11. Thanks for comments guys. Now to get the layout in order..
  12. Yes far too clean. The horns are not great either, but I might not bother changing them as I would like to do a fresh SF body with full detail and IR paint job some time in the future.
  13. I finally got around to switching the chassis on A39 to IR 001. I used some of the SSM detail kit such as roof grill and lamp irons,CAWs protection thing on the front, wipers and headlight detail.I also switched over the wiring for the headlights from A39 so she has directional lighting as well as the sound chip. I am delighted with 001 and she slots in for far more work with the stock I have.I have a few photos here and a video of her on the layout. The layout is in a bit of a state as a lot of work will be done on that when the weather heats up a bit.
  14. Great videos alright, and this line should have had some part preserved perhaps around Kilmacthomas in the 90s but as usual-nothing.
  15. The photos have a Burma road feel to them, very nice.
  16. Hell of a job George, and great detail for such small wagons.
