Addresspal are doing away with the option to collect from a selected post office too, which was the cheaper option than getting the parcel delivered to your door. Wait till the food shortages hit - NI in particular

So annoyed (massive understatement!) that this was only announced through Facebook, as I left Facebook over a year ago. I have the previously released models - the KD, & the Atlantean D, but this Van Hool Atlantean is my fav of all time. If anyone has ordered double, and wants to swap the second for one of these, message me here

Transportation of 'Night Soil' on Irish Railways
skinner75 replied to Irishswissernie's topic in General Chat
Might as well dump sh!te into the Irish Sea, as it is a lot better than what the UK dumps into it! FYI, the Irish Sea is the most radioactive sea in the world -
I'd email them telling them I'd not be ordering from them again

Wow - that Class59 is stunning for a 3D print! That would be the way to go for small batches of a particular loco for a small market

Once no longer available to buy new, a loco's value is whatever someone is prepared to pay in order to get their hands on it. If more than one person is after the same loco on ebay, then a bidding war will result in the price being driven up. It is no different to a regular auction with people bidding on an antique that isn't available to buy new anymore.

I couldn't handle the way they do things in the USA, where even prices of goods on the shelves in a supermarket don't have tax included!

There is a couple of Doyle & Hirsch books on Donedeal at the moment, for those interested: https://www.donedeal.ie/hobbies-for-sale/irish-railways-books/26523600

I emailed Silver Fox about getting their Weed Van - they are taking orders, but the new run won't be ready until next summer. Payment not required until then

Any update on this release?

Yay - Beach Head on the Speccy was great fun, with the variety levels. Loved that game! As for the modern stuff, I've not played War Thunder, but have played a fair bit of World of Tanks, which looks absolutely amazing and is also free to play

I ordered the three packs of the IE versions, to go along with the previously released IE packs A, B & C. I'd love to know the story behind the Div42

From the latest edition of The Irish Mail (ITG), it looks like the engine from 224 may be used in 223, and various other bits used in 230 to get both back in service. Please correct me if I have the two mixed up!

How much does each laser system cost though, plus maintenance? Also, the sign can just be ignored by the driver & the bridge still hit. Once the I beam is perpendicular to the road, it shouldn't roll the truck onto the other side of the road either. Or slant the I beam off to the kerb side to prevent it. Either way, stops the bridge being hit, where the truck could roll into oncoming traffic anyway - as was almost the case in the Amiens St pic above. It is far easier to replace an I beam than to have to inspect/repair the bridge, let alone the nasty accident that could occur if the rail gauge was damaged by the strike.

Big I-beam mounted in front of the bridge I say http://11foot8.com/

FREMO modular layout - polish rail PKP

I was thinking more of in years to come if they fail. If they are a standard design, then there shouldn't be a problem with sourcing a replacement

Could the stock speaker not be replaced with one of the 'sugarcube' ones in the future? Surely a snipping of a couple of wires & a bit of soldering would cure a dodgy stock speaker in the future, if no original spare ones were to be had?
-
Very cool! I'm surprised they didn't run a kickstarter to get the funds together for it, and also to gauge interest in it.

Very handy that! The episode on the New Technology is very good. If memory serves, there is a 'steerable bogie' to reduce the wheel squeal on sharp bends

Hi all, for those of you with Freesat (possibly Sky too), there is a show on Fridays at 10.30am on channel NHK World called Japan Railway Journal. I find it interesting, as it covers many aspects of the Japanese railway - just don't expect to see much loco hauled trains! It covers the various little 'third sector' lines, as well as the main company JR East. Lots of the little companies run 'tourist trains' on their lines to generate extra revenue. Japan is on my list of places I want to visit when things get back to some semblance of normal. Maybe you haven't spotted this, as it is not one of the 'regular' channels, but worth setting the box to record it & give it a go I reckon!

Nice! It reminds me of when I was around 9 or 10, and going on a CIE Tour trip with my uncle & gran
