  1. Hello Noel, I'm an amateur but here's how I'd approach this project. Q1) yes you should Q2) I use halfords grey plastic primer and have had no troubles what so ever, I use it straight from the can and it provides a very smooth uniform coat every time, but bare in mind that the colour of the undercoat/primer will affect the shade of the final coat so always check and test that the primer and top coat are going to end up the colour you want. Q3) I would sand the emblem and lining with probably 1000 grade (or more) sandpaper, just to make sure that nothing shows through. So there's how I'd tackle this, but perhaps an expert will offer more advice than myself, Have fun and I hope it goes well, Nelson *Jinx Glenderg * (<--expert btw )
  2. 3 great model shops highly recommend them!, hawkins bazaar also stocks model railway products although theres very little in there, but its still good.
  3. Lovely paint job accurate or not.

  6. Thanks guys, don't worry about the illness it's on the mend anyway and soon enough I'll be able to race on with this.
  7. Thank you very much everyone ^ Hello everyone, Not much done to the engine except it's primer coat has been applied, I've been stuck in bed all week with some sort of flu/fever so that's why. And to make things even better the tender dropped out of my hands taking off the steps and weight inside. Ah well. We learn from our mistakes I guess and from the primer coat it's easy to see what areas need to be improved before the black goes on. Nelson
  8. Hello everyone, Just came across this on RMweb http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/97926-ger-j15-with-an-irish-railways-emblem/#entry1843865 and it sounds rather interesting and a brilliant conversion for someone I'm sure, although does anyone have any more info regarding this subject? Nelson
  9. Just when I ordered some haha, looks like I'll have to build another engine lol, thanks Leslie see you there.
  10. Hello everyone, I need some GNR transfers for my engine, mainly the letters "GNR" and the number "10". I've checked with studio scale models and they don't have what I need and I'm unsure about the new railtec transfers, so if anyone knows any other company that sells GNR transfers be sure to let me know, or if anyone has any experience with the railtec ones, I'll be interested in hearing from your experiences of them, Thanks Nelson Ps: I'm going to check all the mainland GNR transfers and see if anything suits but I highly doubt it.
