  1. Could any one let me know if there is model rail show in Ireland this autumn (bigger os better of course), in Munster if possible. Thinking of coming for a visit and would like to take one in if at all possible. f theres a calendar of events somewhere that I'm missing here, please let me know. Thanks in advance. Kevin
  2. I meant to ask this before but what actually happened to 230? I think I heard it was a fire also but not sure of the details
  3. Not sure how often these things fail, or whether it's something small despite the very smoky 'core breach'. Maybe time on the mechanics better spent than on that livery?
  4. haha! enjoyed that. you're not alone, IT
  5. I don't think they are open tomorrow, Sunday. Anyone having problems with their CC on the site? Tried several cards….. (no, I haven't maxed them out at Marks Models) EDIT: Forget the above. I'm in the same boat as Railer. Fraud alert in my overseas spending! Purchase made now
  6. Hi Yankho, I need to presume that you are located in MI and interested in HO or OO modeling from your handle and the fact that you joined this site. I'll be back on later (same time zone) These resources section is a good place to start http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/content.php/313-locomotives This is one of the larger supplier of Irish locos and stock, lots more in the manufacturers section of the site http://www.murphymodels.com US distributor of these in TX http://models11.net
  7. Dave, how much does that ecos system ballpark at? Any tips for where it might be found most economically? Looked at website but don't have prices. And it addition to the main command station you would need as many boosters as the layout requires plus Cabs… Did I miss any other costs for the system?
  8. EDIT: Didn't see Dhu Varren's post. My question is a moot point!
  9. Multi-gauge lines already exist (though not here). Sorry Harry
  10. Fran, I don't think we're disagreeing as much as you think. I agree with you that it is best to go directly to the head of the problem. That's what I usually do, believe you me. I think MM is well aware of the issue, that's all and our opinions may differ there. No more to be said on the matter now, I agree. I hope that more good models coaches come from MM and a 121, a succession within MM if that's possible/necessary or another vendor to fill that niche if necessary. I love these models in general as is the case with most or all on this site, I suspect.
  11. Absolutely agree!!
  12. It's not all the stock, best guess less than a third of them. I'm probably going to get a rake but need to do it in person. Distance selling not going to work for me in this instance
  13. Thanks, David. It's that other thread I was referring to. Fran, I'm canceling my insanity consultation with the psychiatrist.......phew!
  14. He should be. It's his business. I know of vendors who have had orders rejected by the customers. I think it pretty clear the situation has been communicated back to MM. I would love to see the 121s come out but I think that was a good business decision. With Lima prices rising that high, the market was asking for a newer high quality model and they've not been left on the shelves.
  15. Yup, I have a rake of them. Very nice models!
  16. Oh, Lord, JM! it's a beautiful thing but I'd have to practice to be the signalman, let alone the engineer:trains:
  17. Oddly enough, something to that effect was apparently stated by PM to another modeler (effectively hearsay in some respects as it was not stated directly to me). Producing these models cannot be an easy task and despite my previous post, I do have a lot of sympathy for PM and hope that the ham-fisted manufacturer in China has not set in motion, events that that discourages any further models from MM. I agree that there should not be an expectation to buy for its own sake, but, that said, MM has pretty much sold every model it has ever produced. Granted the timeframe varies from model to model somewhat but I think that high quality products will always sell and be desired by present and future modelers.
  18. In my post, I referred to MM, a business and vendor that has placed a product on the market for profit that has drawn significant negative criticism from the customers relative to the high quality models previously produced. By all accounts, 'he' is well aware of the situation, "his good reputation" and the thread discussing the Mk2ds on this site. It is unfortunate what has happened with the STs but how a business deals with that situation is what speaks to its customers. This is just one opinion and based on the company's awareness of multiple opinions and its response to the situation, that would be an exercise in futility, I would think.
  19. Good looking hoist, Nelson. GSR, also more locally, same price http://www.themodelshop.ie/depot-hoist.html
  20. I think that assessment is correct but time and again we have heard on here that the investment by MM has to be recouped before a new run will happen. Looking at the patterns of release of new models certainly supports. I'll bet a run of 121s would sell out fairly easily if they were available in the morning but we're waiting still..... I cannot see the ST MK2s selling quickly and that may impact those releases. Months have gone by and MM is happy for these continue to sell with all the issues that it itself apparently recognizes and communicated (only) through forum members. This raises questions over the quality of a new run of 141s. MM is not helping its own reputation as a vendor right now
  21. This is a very timely resurrection of this recent thread. I have a Lima 201 Flesk on the way to USA purchased based on David's thread that these could be made to run. NO experience doing any of these modifications but will give it a go. Any more photos of how to update her would always be appreciated.
  22. Oh, wow! Wonder when that was. Some tankers in the background, too
  23. Do you have a photo by an y chance? It's still there?
  24. No, that would be an unusual circumstance. More correctly B'n'T as Pat says, not all over black. Sorry, was out and about on a mobile device . Will edit original for clarity.
  25. Traditionally there have been four in each of the following liveries CIE black & tan, Supertrain black and orange, Irish rail(set of points), IE orange (Plug/socket logo) Except for CIE black & tan the others have three pristine and one weathered. Number 171 is also IE orange but was commissioned by Marks models, I think. In addition to the original CIE black locomotives there is also a preserved CIE black & tan version of 141 which would run with the modern IE locos. That should come to 18 in total
