  1. 187 located and in transit. Baby GMs collection complete (except for boxes) http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/4552-DON-T-Burn-the-Box!-……-141-181-Class-Baby-GMs
  2. Yes, that's a rip-off. MOst on eBay have been damaged, bits missing, gates 'repaired' or missing etc. Don't intend to pay that, may have to do without. Scalescenes doesn't look bad. May look into that. Tks
  3. I am not sure if it is typical, but I recommend Kirley's design!
  4. How much weight would you save? How much would it cost in relation to a 'traditional' design? What's a balancer skin?...........
  5. I though the timber trains had ceased based on posts/pics that I had seen on various sites, Noel. Although, maybe previously they came from Sligo?
  6. Sofa?..... as long as the layout fits in there that's all that matters:-bd
  7. So you're saying that if the train were to derail the center rail(s) are to guide the derailed flanges along the sleepers more or less along the route rather than (say) straying all the way across, off the permanent way where the outside wheel would then fall off and the loco overturn?
  8. So if the Supertrain EGVs seemed to match perfectly with white 'tippex' lines added, doensn't that mean there is a whole rake of individually numbered non-black roofed coaches out there that could be used for the same purpose?
  9. Richie, I think your stock is in everyone's collection. PM me re the MK III when you can . No rush EDIT: FIVE zeros, not four. That can't be all OO! G, liver steam or a light gauge railway perhaps? Are we talking Peter Waterman here?
  10. I rest my case! Seriously?! That's at least Eur10. I'm spending more on trains;)
  11. Great job with that building, Rich! Very nice work.
  12. Haven't selected a DCC controller yet but I think you'll have a lot of support for those choices. That a perfect example of what I mean about your level of interest or committment to your hobby; some of the time devoted to funding it from a separate pot. Well done you!
  13. It's true that the hobby is not cheap. However the larger collections have probably been built up over very many years and the cost per year for the enjoyment that is recieved by the modeller and by others viewing the layout is also very considerable. Many other ways to spend your money (less wisely, in MY opinion, it's just an opinion) I have not idea how much a pach of cigarettes is but I'm going to guestimate 5euro just for arguments sake, that almost Eur2,000 a year or nearly Eur18,000 over a decade. very nice layout acquired for that amount and unlikely to fall into ill health due to being run over by any model under G scale. Diving, is equipment intensive, with consumables, boats, Nitrox, location etc.. I think trains & layouts are acquired over time depending on individual resources and level of interest, and other than causing the occasional fracas or debate on here, I think you could do much 'worse' EDIT: As for wives, I'm pretty sure they know exactly how much most of the modellers spend and choose to turn a blind eye to it, to a greater or lesser extent. The cost of keeping you out of her kitchen, PRICELESS! (for everything else, there's Mastercard)
  14. I think 5236 and 5229 were the only orange roofed coaches. Is there another run intended or what? I didn't understand why there were not enough individual numbers to make a decent rake?
  15. That makes sense. Thanks to both of you for the clarification THat's why I said 'bus' in refereence to the NIR bus and NIR-owned 201 class locomotives. I know what a tram is. However this is a large (electrically) motorized mass transit vehicle on a very fixed route for payment, is it not? So no need to get irate at those of us not so endeared to the Luas, please Ref. Oxford Dictionary (English) Bus 1 A large motor vehicle carrying passengers by road, especially one serving the public on a fixed route and for a fare: 2 Computing ...... etc
  16. I have little interest in the Luas or how they're numbered but, as this is 4006, does that mean that the Mk IV DVT needs an '8' or something put in front of it to distinguish it from the 'bus' in the photo?
  17. That makes a lot of sense, Kieran I'm sure it will be useful to more than me! Looks like the point blades need to be centred to do, so presumably need to disconnect any point motor arm to prevent injury to it
  18. Thanks very much both of you. Homework to be done tonight, I think
