  1. It does look a bit like a tank .........
  2. Actually I thought it would but I laughed that he ran out of track and coaches! LOL So, .......... would a prototypical A pick up that many coaches, 2 GAA specials at Notch 1? Very disappointed that the model has been over engineered beyond the prototype What's a tape recorder? Is that the only way to capture a sound that old?
  3. No, I didn't and I missed your post until now. I'll PM you
  4. Anyone would do well to stay out of the way of that, it's a wonder anyone survived such medieval weaponry. Thank God for H&S
  5. Rails Through Connemara - The Galway-Clifden Railway (LP 250) £15.95 Softback, 192 pages, black & white photographs, drawings and more ISBN: 9780853617594 Didn't know about this. Must see how to get a copy shipped at reasonable cost to the US. Lovely MGW loco on the cover
  6. Shane Corry has blotted his copybook on here for sure and even if the loco has been sold elsewhere he has the option to return the F& F gift thru PayPal. He doesn't need the site to do this and I 'm suggesting he be banned form the site. @BosKonay I would ask forum members to be vigilant for this fellow on other sites and keep Dave in the loop. He sold the same or an identical item on adverts one month ago https://www.adverts.ie/toy-cars-trains-boats-planes/murphy-models-class-201-nir-livery-mm0209-oo-scale/23939468 Adverts advise the following regarding what to do with stolen items (Dave paid for it and it was retained) We take reports on stolen items very seriously here, however we now need your help. We cannot tell if an item is stolen and each member of adverts agrees to our terms and conditions, which state that they should own the item for sale. Stolen items or suspected stolen items are something that needs to be investigated by the Gardaí. You should now report this to the Gardaí and tell them the reason why you suspect it to be stolen. You should also give them the name of the seller, their location and a description of the item for sale along with the asking price. We have some information on the seller but all such information is bound by the Data Protection Act. The Gardaí can get access to this information but they will need to submit a request for information under section 8 of the data protection act to us either by fax (01 478 9242) or by post: Adverts.ie, Latin Hall, Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
  7. He doesn't accept PayPal now either, maybe he's been found out..... conman. Sorry Dave!
  8. When would the compressor (for the vacuum brakes) be active, let off air and an air spitter valve be used?
  9. Relatively inexpensive, I preordered a copy on Book Depository which seems to deliver for free worldwide
  10. If a rake of prototypical coaches were available for my silver green and BnT As, they'd already be ordered! I'm sure the IRM A will be a weighty loco with excellent pulling power (like the prototype), don't think that was ever in question. Looking forward to getting mine!
  11. ALL my drivers have 'disappeared'. Definitely need some authentic CIE era accessory packs
  12. From what I recall the guards were a later introduction to protect the CAWS system from damage but as to timing I have no idea
  13. IRM coaching stock is well overdue given the level of success of it freight offerings. The problem is that unless IRM do some earlier stock my cash will be going to a couple of rakes of MM Supertrain Mk3s and suburbans. MM is also potentially planning a new run of cravens and I'd certainly take a few of them with new running numbers for sure. I have a feeling there would be a fair demand for early single stripe ones TBH. Hopefully can dump my old Lima Execs and Silverfox driving trailer for an upgrade but most of all would love to see some proper 1950s built 'laminate' stock which hung around for thirty years.
  14. I'm sure you meant that AEC (Associated Equipment Company) railcars. Lovely views of 2611 with its 1st class accommodations and 2646. Lovely footage. Thanks for posting! While there, I noticed something on the RO-RO traffic on the Munster, the point of interest being the road traffic that existed at the time c. 1968 https://www.rte.ie/archives/2013/0530/453547-the-car-ferry-a-new-travel-option-in-1968/
  15. That era has repeatedly been underestimated, in the sense that they would not have sold out that quickly if more had been produced. The As have not been produced in equal numbers as I understand it like say there were 504 MM 141 class etc.
  16. I'm glad this is not a highly detailed IRM product with a complete set of measurements necessary on the prototype!
  17. Forget the Class 47 but keep the rest coming
  18. They literally cleaned just enough grime from 054's ST livery to apply the new set of points IR logos to the sides and cab ends! Always loved that earlier NIR coach livery, not to mention the Hunslet. Looks to be 102 Falcon , the class survivor now on static display at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum
  19. Sure the models may be fragile and one might break something in use like the vacuum pipes, but to be fair, they need to come in the correct condition. I'm sure if you sent a cheque to any retailer that was a tenner short they wouldn't find that acceptable either
  20. When is the Men's Olympic Pole Vault being televised?
  21. Indeed ..... Looks like a pair of MAK 800s CIE's Ex-GNRB K801 worked the line to Youghal until about '67.
  22. I think we might need a new thread but anyway.... it seems 1547 was converted back and and forth to 1st class twice (1148 in the 70s and 1151 in the 80s)? 1150 in 1983 (prior to its reversion to 1548 in 1984 ((c) Jeremy Chapter on Flickr) certainly seems to have the 2+1 seating and curtains The seating arrangement on my MM 1149TL certainly seems correct, whatever about the curtains.
  23. If not it's for a wrong grey livery beard like a Macs Smile blade advertisement For the younger gents and gals ... http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt249/Ed_Butler5/Macs3.jpg?t
  24. Things have slipped a bit during the pandemic if Aer Lingus are reintroducing their 1950s fleet (better air circulation in the DC-3?)
  25. The Cravens coaches were introduced c. 1963/4 so there was a decade when they were run with other GSVs prior to the arrival of the Dutch vans c.1969 and the BR Mk1s about 1972. The end of steam at that time necessitated the introduction of the 4w and 6w HLVs to provide steam heating in the winter months on passenger coaches
