  2. Question for Leslie. Did Lance take any photos from Strabane to Foyle Road and thev intermeddiate stations in particular?
  3. Can you post a picture of the model please?
  4. The Railway Museum in Derry has been closed under the new management for the last 2 years. Victoria Road features in Railway Archive Issue number 2 All feedback on article in Disused Stations welcomed.
  5. Will chase that up. The George Hanan model of Donegal Town is on display in the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre. Recently the Hanan family donated his historic collection of CDR paintings to the Centre.
  6. Thanks will enjoy later on.
  7. Found this photo from August 1959 at Foyle Road today.
  8. Well was working on that station today for the Disused Stations website. However if there is anyone on IRM with photos of Carrigans Porthall and St Johnston stations post your photos and/or send me a PM please?
  9. Do you know who has the copyright to the Keith Bannistervphotos?
  10. This station would make a great layout just look at the track plans. Indeed across the river Foyle Road was even more compact again.
  11. Yes indeed can you email them to myself?
  12. Who was the photographer? Did he take many of the CDR? Thanks for all your efforts.
  13. Just never seen a photo before where the UTA logo was where the GNR number had been?
  14. See this photo from 1959 showing a BUT Railcar at Foyle Road station. Note the UTA logo. How common was this?
  15. With the imposition of lockdown the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre has been forced to close to the public until October 16th. However the online shop etc will remain open to raise funds towards the restoration of Drumboe and work has now started at RPSI Whitehead.
  16. David what do you know about the CDR Class 5 tank proposed by Ragstone Models?
  17. The guy that owns Steam Dreams has in his own 5 foot gauge steam loco from Finland in his garden. His wife is Finnish!
  18. You will be lucky if you get what you want from PRONI. Since early August phone calls and emails etc have failed to even hook one of those limited visitor slots Let alone even get any accurate mentions in the catalogue for just 1 large photo collection.!
  19. You can book online to visit PRONI for one day per week. After weeks of effort found it easier to see my doctor than visit PRONI once in the 6 weeks it has been open again. A friend of mine was there on Friday, there were 5 visitors in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Security staff stated 12 are allowed each day but usually only 50% turn up.on average.
  20. Looking through books etc the converted P Van's appear to be very camera shy!
  21. Sorry my mistake the P Van's were 618 and 619. Both out of use by 1979/1980,and 618 went to the RPSI and the frame of 619 to Downpatrick.
  22. Those 2 ex P Van's were regulars on the Larne Line from 1974 to about 1983 when both Van's were scrapped at Ballymena. Van 621 was ex AEC 120 and Van 622 was ex AEC 114 converted in 1974 by NIR. Good photo of 621 in 35 Years of NIR book.
  23. The company was struggling financially and when Pat Doherty bought the Swilly about 15vyears ago he had his own motives. Firstly he was happy to keep the busrs running as long he got subsidies from both governments. By 2013 both Ulsterbus and Bus Eirann were starting to operate into areas served by the Swilly. Secondly Mr Doherty is a property developer who owns Letterkenny Shopping Centre and the Swilly owned some well.located sites ripe for development!
  24. The funeral of Sir John the 3rd baronet taking place in St Columbs Cathedral today.
  25. These are the details of his father who died in 1986 not his son who was born in 1927.
