  1. Lovely model! These locos looked like absolute beasts... I think they were converted to 4-6-2Ts before withdrawal.
  2. Ironic, given that it's practically impossible to walk 10 feet in Malta without tripping over a cat... maybe they were putting up a last stand in the Shack?
  3. Just about... TU-95s can fly at around mach 0.8. Apparently RAF Tornadoes used to have problems tailing them at altitude and would have to engage their afterburners to keep up if the Russian pilots decided to have a bit of fun.
  4. On the case as always, Broithe! Looks like they confused the TU-22 with the Backfire's designation, which is TU-22M.
  5. Here's a video which is believed to have been taken on board one of the Bears during the January incident. It shows Typhoons and Mirage 2000s keeping a watchful eye...
  6. Spare MkIVs on the Enterprise while the De Deitrichs are being refurbished? Back to normal after that, I'd say...
  7. Must try and make time to go and see that exhibition. She would have saved a lot of time on the before and after pics if she had just logged onto Eiretrains, though...
  8. Welcome aboard, IrishN... the completed Dart looks stunning!
  9. Hi Alan, I've removed your contact details to protect your privacy. If you need to send your address, etc. to Tony, you can do so by private message.
  10. Having travelled on French TGVs, loco-hauled stock, and diesel railcars and EMUs on several occasions in recent years, the comfort of the 22k compares favourably. The air-con is far better, too... much better than TGV or Corail stock on a hot day!
  11. I believe there were four Pullman coaches, and all were third class coaches. Most photos I've seen of them before showed them in a derelict state following withdrawal, by which time they wore CIÉ green.
  12. Some CIÉ steam locos look black in photos, but it was actually the same dark grey.
  13. Hi Irishthump, if you feel threads are constantly being hijacked, get in touch with one of the mods via PM to bring it to our attention. Meanwhile... You were already asked to stop that line of discussion on this thread because it's already being covered elsewhere - numerous times, in fact. Infraction issued. I'm locking the thread now because it's been dragged too far off course, so congrats on that. If anyone ever wonders why there's no activity on my workbench, it's probably because I'm stuck on the forum dealing with stuff like this.
  14. I quite like the livery... it has a classy look to it. It's certainly the best colour scheme IÉ have come up with for a while now.
  15. That looks great, Dhu Varren. Would love to see some photos of the coaches, too, if you have any.
  16. Look familiar? 24RM Wedderburn by Rail Tourist Association, on Flickr It looks very much like a cross between the SL&NCR's railcar 'B' and the later railcars built for the County Donegal and West Clare... A limited edition HO scale model is available if you're flush: http://www.precisionscalemodels.com.au/models/v-r-%E2%80%9Cwalker%E2%80%9D-rail-motor-102153-h-p-diesel-rail-car-trailer/
  17. Always nice to see pics of MGWR motive power, JB... love the cattle engine!
  18. Views on the merits of the Silverfox Metro Vicks are currently spread across a number of threads, so there's no need to start on about it here, too, especially when nothing new is being brought to the discussion. If you have an issue with this, feel free to take it up via PM with the mod team.
  19. Excellent video, Nelson... very well produced and thoroughly enjoyable to watch.
  20. Can we avoid getting bogged down in another yay-or-nay Silverfox discussion please? There has already been plenty of them on the forum lately. We'd appreciate if instances like this could be reported at the time, Noel. Thanks folks.
  21. Now known as the coldest town in Ireland. Also famous for having its railways stolen...
  22. As has already been said above... it would be a relatively easy scratchbuilding project at a fraction of the price, and as with the vast majority of 3D-printed models, the finish would be rough.
