I think it helps if you grew up near a railway line and then model that era as it is what you grew up with.
That's what happened with me.
But i do model irish trains that i have never seen in my life. and that is because i have seen them in
books, DVD's and internet.

The plough vans look great.
The lettering does come of if you rub at it to much and enamel thinners would make it worse.
I lost a few letters on one side and hand painted them on again.
Maybe a coat of varnish put on first and left for 48 hours might protect it before you start adding dirt.

I'll probably leave the loads in but it would be nice to have some extra loads for the freight yard and on the forklift truck.

So if the top bars can be removed the loads can be taken out, cool.
