Glenderg Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Don't tell me I'm the only plonker who wants a Kit? Quote
David Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Don't tell me I'm the only plonker who wants a Kit? Don't worry Richie! It's about a 50/50 split in this case. Maybe the fact that it's a loco makes a difference. Quote
Glenderg Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Great news. I've never done a brass loco and am really looking forward to it. Would be nice to see how the other lads are gonna tackle it, particularly the non-soldering types. Any idea when the deposit is likely to be needed, it's just that I have a few trocaire boxes that need to be handed back and..... Richie. Quote

Don't worry, it'll be designed so that even I can build it so you'll be grand! I'll be aiming to keep the required soldering to a minimum or maybe totally eliminated. There isn't one drop of solder in the De Dietrichs and they're almost totally brass! Actually I lied, the wiring is soldered but that's all. I've sent you a PM re deposit. Quote
Warbonnet Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Don't tell me I'm the only plonker who wants a Kit? Nope, me too. We can start a support group to get each other through it. Quote
Glenderg Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Nope, me too. We can start a support group to get each other through it. Meet in Marks' around the end of every month/week, at the American Kits box, then nip round to Ned's for a swift one? Sound like my kinda support group Quote

heirflick Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Nope, me too. We can start a support group to get each other through it. if you too lads keep at it ...i might try a kit version aswell! Quote
David Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Richie now look what you've started! I'll have no model making work to do by the time kit-builders anonymous gets going Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Richie now look what you've started! I'll have no model making work to do by the time kit-builders anonymous gets going Mines a built unpainted kit so that will keep you busy for a while Quote
Mike 84C Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I"m with the kit builders on this one! I have only done white metal locos, thats showing me age! I think a support group is a good idea. David please pm me re deposit. Mike Quote
Guest hidden-agenda Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 It will be a very impressive kit judging by the kind of goods DK put out and hopefully a starter for more high quality kits in the future. Quote
David Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Any update on progress please? Hi Kieran, Still quite a long way off. There are a lot of De Dietrich and 2600 models to be built before I can really get some serious time into the project. Quote
Kirley Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Thanks David, are you still on course to complete this year? Quote
David Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Thanks David, are you still on course to complete this year? It's too early to say but at this stage I expect the project may run into early next year. Quote
Kirley Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi guys, D&M Models are seriously considering producing a kit and RTR model of RPSI loco 461. If this requirement can be satisfied then there will be a model of 461 available this year. . Hopefully it will be in the early part of 2014 Quote
Horsetan Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) Most likely we will design the kit to run on an existing RTR chassis but we may also do an etched chassis. ...l. Please remember those of us who would be wanting to build it in 21mm gauge......with inside motion if possible! Don't tell me I'm the only plonker who wants a Kit? Nope, me too. We can start a support group to get each other through it. Make that three, but only if I can build the chassis to 21mm. Edited November 30, 2013 by Horsetan Quote
Kirley Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Any update on the development of your 461 model please? Quote
David Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Any update on the development of your 461 model please? Hi Kieran, The CAD is at an advanced stage but I still have to prioritise the current orders for Enterprise and Railcar sets so it's still a little way off. Please bear with me, I'm going as fast as I can. Quote

Kirley Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Thanks for the update but you can't fault me for wanting to get my hands on one as soon as possible. Quote
jhb171achill Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Yes PLEASE! All grey GSR for me..... I've sent you a PM. Quote
Horsetan Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 ....The CAD is at an advanced stage ..... Even a sneak preview would get us salivating! Quote
David Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 Even a sneak preview would get us salivating! Yuk! I'm afraid it's all construction lines in multiple layers so it wont look like much. You'll have to wait until an assembled example is ready before any pictures will be posted Quote

David Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 Looking forward David. And if you can organise an etched plate for the number on the sides it would be mega! Will do! By the way guys, if any of you have some input, either in the form of photos, drawings or information if be delighted if you could contribute. You can post on this thread or send me an email. Horsetan Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I haven't heard anything. IThere must be other things going on. Quote
David Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 The CAD is now complete and I'll be looking at getting some test etches done shortly. I only anticipate minimal amendments will be required once I get my hands on the test etches. I'm aware that it is taking a lot longer than originally planned but unfortunately progress through remaining orders for railcars and DDs is extremely slow due to overtime at the day job that cannot be avoided. Apologies for this. I know it's frustrating for you guys! Quote
Kirley Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Great news David that the project has advanced to this stage, 2016 release a possibility? Quote
