Right up my street, had a great chat with Paddy about it.

Correct, not yet running as yet.

Ah, I see. Haven't seen this in the flesh as an ex-pat. Are there many of these in service? When did they enter service? Presuabnly as a hybrid the use the DART electrified network and can run south of it also?

only 1 set here for evaluation wont see service for a while yet but will be operating first on the dundalk drogheda line till electrification is done

yep, one for the Dubs I think. Very limited scope modelling wise outside that area obviously.

Wish him the best with it.

That's.....brave.

Especially with the ICR units not selling as the lads had hoped for. I would of thought a Push Pull set would of been warmly welcomed and would go great with the 121's.

Seems a bit of an odd choice versus the original DART for example. (I know there is a bespoke manufacturer of these though)

Hope it goes well for him but not one for me this time.

Edit: could really do with updating the website about it and a launch like IRM do... difficult to actually find out anything about it if you weren't at the show.

Plus I saw this on FaceBook last night:

Speaking to Paddy, these aren't a solo project, Alstrom have asked him and provided CAD and the sort to help him produce this, hence why a 3D sample model of a full set appeared before real thing!

Can’t recall exact figure quoted, but from talking to Paddy that day, the price for this - given the very high quality that we know it will be - is going to be very reasonable indeed.

Be nice to have one of these to run with IRM's 22000's.

A little odd maybe to have this before any other DARTs are available RTR- not counting @murrayec as he is still overwhelmed with back orders AFAIK- but as it’s in conjunction with Alstom I have no doubt it’ll all work out. Don’t know why, but surely a big “proper train” manufacturer knows what it’s doing. I’ll probably be able to afford one by the time it comes out, completely out of era and period for me but oh well.
