“The Irish Corridor” an Irish Train game

Hello all 

 

slightly different from the modeling we are all used to! These are models for a new railway simulator being worked on presently. It will be based from Dublin - Kildare and if proven popular enough, might be extended in the future.
 

The game is featuring accurate sound recordings of each class. And while NPC trains are not possible, multiplayer will be essentially a core part of the experience. As it is part of the Roblox experience, It will be free to run.

I remember playing it too - and also the Irish addon "The Enterprise". Great seeing Irish stock in a game

Lovely looking models- and a lot of them! The inclusion of DART units suggests more than just Heuston-Kildare, so if you don't mind me asking, what routes do you have planned?

Also, are you on YouTube? I'd love to watch the dev process for this.

All dart units are made by a member of the team that exclusively loves Darts. 8200s are 99 percent done. 81s are more like 60 percent. Realism isint the aim. You can run 8200s to Kildare if you like

 

all development activity happens through discord unfortunatly. The group link invite is below

Ah sure that's as good a reason as any. I don't have discord but I'm looking at getting it so I may pop along. I'd love to be able to help. What are the trains modelled in- Roblox Studio, Blender, Solidworks, etc?

Roblox studio I’m sure. 
 

Good railway chat on that discord too mind you. Probobly one of the only places where the vast majority are young rather then old. Certainly a different view of a community

Although a Boomer (68) I disagree strongly with intolerant views expressed by my own and other generations both in person and on social media. Some of the opinions expressed at social gatherings among so called 'railway friends" were as intolerant and entrenced (less well off, race, sexism) as what appears on un-moderated social media, maybe I am one of those aging liberals an idealist to young to be a Hippy and to old to become a Punk Rocker so I settled for Thin Lizzy to express my teenage angst.

I've no clue as to what "discord" is; presumably a modern variant of tiktokgram, instamusk or bookface - but - THIN LIZZY! Yes.

That famous gig at Dalymount Park in 1976 (or was it 77) was probably the single best outdoor gig I've ever been to.

Maybe this is one of those instances where social media is 'tone deaf', but I had not intended that meme to be an expression of intolerance towards being young. I had a giggle to myself at the thought that this was an 'old' community and when I realised that it largely is. I'm in my late 40s and am only now coming to accept that to many I'm old too. The meme was intended to be a playful reference to the fact that all too soon the lads will be old too. WestCorkrailway and LNERW1, are both very welcome on this forum in my eyes (you've both certainly made a bigger contribution to the place than most, including me), and I hope that meme didn't make you feel otherwise.

I'll take my own advice in future and stick to posting about trains.

No offence taken or intended, I am under a lot of pressure at the moment with a teenager that has mental health problems and probably oversensitive to what I perceive as intolerance not specifically at your meme.

JHB never got to see Thin Lizzy perform I had over protective family environment, instead I compensated by spending my 'Misspent Youth' in my thirties hanging out (carousing) with railway volunteers in the UK and only started going to rock concerts in my 40s although I got to see Lynard Skynard (& Deep Purple) at the Point, Joe Cocker, The Stones, Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel in Auckland.

My mother in law in her 90s who can do a very good aged rocker particularly impression particularly Keith Richards headscarf, sunglasses (at night) wrinkled face and long dark coat accompanied us at the last two concerts.

Thank God, I've never used Blender and both despise and fear Solidworks. I'll see about joining. Best of luck with the game.

The closest I got to seeing Thin Lizzy live was around 1980 when a work colleague told me he met Phil Lynott at a family wedding. At the time I kind of modelled myself as a pale Phil with an almost Afro hairstyle and a whispy moustache and clothes from Peter France in Capel St.  These days I am starting to look like a younger version of Robert Plant long whiteish hair and beard still can't sing or play an instrument though my kid sometimes says I look like an aged Rock Star.

When I pass away my wife has promised to dress me in my 20 + year old faded black ragged Lynard Skynard tee shirt, worn jeans and work boots, still making up for lost time from a protective childhood.

The Gamers World is an interesting one different members of a group collaborating to build digital models of a railway system and its rolling stock not a lot different to physical or 3D model making and they don't need DCC or analog to run their trains.
