Layout based on the Cashel Station (Tipperary) but cannot find a layout plan of the station, any ideas?

I have become obsessed with recreating the Cashel station, since i saw a photo of the station with the Rock of Cashel in the background I can't get the idea of it out of my head.

Been searching through various websuites for photos and anything i can get my hand on. There are more photos than anticipated but I was wondering would there even be the possiblilty of there being a station plan on record somewhere. It would be helpful to get a plan layout to see where the sidings were, switches etc. 

There is a train shed shown in one photo that looks to the side of the line coming in but another almost makes it look like a shed the train had to pass through leaving the station. 

Any help even more photos would help but i think i have exhausted all links and ideas to locate any more photos or even finding a station plan layout.

There are loads of photos on a Google search.

Tailte Eireann has the historic 6'' OS map but unfortunately the station straddles two maps and one was not updated with the station plan.

I think the sheet on the left is too old to show the railway (it's still shown as under construction!).

It may be that a trip to the Trinity Map Library might be necessary to see a paper map, https://www.tcd.ie/library/map-library/

Ideally what's needed is the OS 1:2500 scale (25") maps, to show the details of running lines, though the six inch might be ok.

If Trinity can't help try NLI--nice day out in Dublin either way 🙂

What you have there was probably the lot, loop and one siding. Line to the junction behind the photographer. Very easy to make a layout of! The one intermediate place, Ardmayle, was just a halt.

The Geohive 25" Map for ca1900 doesn't show the line but I have a neg taken by a tourist.

The photo doesn't show the total track plan. Here is a rather poor blow-up of a negative taken in 1938 from the Hill.

There was a further siding serving a cattle bank (cattle wagons on it) plus a loco shed at the station throat. I am not sure if that is a hedge to the left of the shed or another siding  possibly with a small turmtable hidden by the shed

In the photo of the GSWR 0-4-4T at the top of the thread, there are some interesting features. The old loco tender, with what looks like a manual pump beside it. But it’s blocking the run-round loop. 
The loco seems to have two vacuum brake pipes on the front, which is rather unusual. I wonder why?

And there’s evidence of busy goods traffic on the right-hand margin of the photo.

The original vacuum brake system on the GSWR was a two pipe set up. Looking on local interest Facebook pages, there’s one old picture of a gathering on the rock of Cashel, with the station in the background:

you should be able to pick out the station platform road and trainshed, a runaround loop by it, then across from this a siding serving the goods shed, which all appear in the usual pictures. In addition further across, you can see there’s a long siding, with just enough clearance for road vehicles at the goods shed, and then behind this an approach lane up to it off the public road, presumably for a cattle bank. In the distance there’s a small engine shed, probably standing on a headshunt for the two sidings. The whole lot is set on a curve, so it would be helpful in getting the layout to fit a corner situation.

Thats what i am thinking but i am currently trying to make/ find space, so will depend on that too. But i might go down to N scale to see if that will still work with what i have in mind

Thank you Had found that map but when you go to the original it cuts off the station to the left. While you get the main part of the station you miss where the little shed at the start and also where the tracks split.

The photo i put up does not show the 4th line that goes to the left of the shed on the right of the photo, but i will have a look at the you tube video and there is another reply with a photo from the rock side that will hopefully clear up the layout at the entry to the yard,

Yep thats the problem with the maps, one shows the station but cuts off the entry area where the small shed is located which is where i am having the most trouble to figure out. 

I will try the link, and hopefully the next time i am home i can have a trip into Dublin, on my way back to Tipp.

THis is an amazing photo, would love to know what event had them sitting the rock like this, thank you. You can see so much in this,

Key Track-Laying Tips for this Plan

The Fiddle Yard Extension: Remember that the station requires a hidden "fiddle yard" or staging track on one end to act as Goold's Cross. If space is tight, use a 3-foot removable cassette system or a folding baseboard extension so it doesn't take up permanent space in the room.

Buffer Stop Alignment: In reality, the platform track and the loop track ended parallel to one another. Ensure your terminal buffers line up cleanly to make scratchbuilding the stone platform wall much easier.

I would ignore this trackplan it bears little resemblance to that in the photographs. The goods shed, main platform, loco shed siding are all in the wrong place and it also shows another loop.

l also have on flickr the station building after closure which shows the  platform construction details and also the door/window details of the building originaly  hidden by the overall roof.
