The lettering on the Denny's van is rather elegant isn't it? It's all rather captivating - the faces looking out from the railcar and the P⁊T reflected in its windows.

No need to wait for the breakfast fry either, sure you can have a mixed grill for your tea! :D

It's quite a bit different to the classic diecast van Denny's themselves had as a free offer with sausage labels some years back.

Very nice - something for everyone there.

In the second photo, that incredibly shoddy silver A class is a sight to behold! Has anyone on forum weathered a model into this sort of condition, I wonder?

In the third photo, A58R carried black and shallow tan livery from 1971 to 1974, but was repainted into supertrain livery by 1975. So I'd suggest this is early 1970s.

I last visited the USA in September 2014 staying at my Daughter's at Layton in Utah. Her home was situated next to the Union Pacific main line between Salt Lake City & Ogden, an ideal site to sit on the veranda and film the heavy freight traffic plus the passenger Front Runner trains. The day before I was due to fly home I was lucky to video the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Baileys Circus Train as it headed to Ogden. I have just got round to converting the original clips chip to MP4; I did the Durango & Silverton and Cumbres & Toltec material many years ago! The Circus Train lasted until May 2017, I think the UK ones went in the 1950's and no doubt there were Irish ones back in steam days. Click on the Black  bit below and it should play.

Impressive stuff - I make that at least sixty cars. Can't be a proper circus train though as there is no giraffe car, with the animal ducking it's head under bridges.😀😇😁

 Proof, if needed, as to why the silver livery on the A class didn't last long!

I didn't think there was enough headroom for the elephants in the coaches (cars) but there is film footage on the web of 5 elephants of the smaller species (Indian?)  de-training and then going for a walk along the highway plus several horses. The public were kept away from the animals as they walked by a team of handlers spaced out along a yellow rope whilst they kept pace with the procession.

Bertram Mills used a Circus Train to tour Ireland during the early 60s an A Class was used for haulage on CIE and a UG for the Belfast-Bangor.  Dan Renehan may have written about an A Class hauling the very heavy circus train over Barnagh on the North Kerry without slipping in one of his IRRS papers, there is a colour photo of the train on the Bangor line in one of the "Irish Raiways from Steam to Diesel published by Tom Middlemas during the mid 1990s.

Three superb illustrations of the correct shade of CIE green livery and lining thickness 😉

Looks to be the Class M3, which had 3 sliding doors per side.  I cannot recall the number.

Thanks Paul. The roof outline seems similar to the Y motor van, and it’s got that classic GNRI panelling effect. Interesting how many variations there are on that basic design.

I recently discovered that I have never uploaded photos from March 2004, March 2009 and September 2014 of the various Railroads around Salt Lake City , Ogden and along the ex DRGW over Soldier Summit to Helper in Utah. My daughter in 2014 had a house overlooking the ex UP line at Layton which has  over 50 freights per day plus the UTA Front Runner service and I spent many hours just sitting on the veranda whilst the trains passed.
