If you can fit a false floor about half way up then add the ballast, so you don't need to fill the whole wagon. Fluff is from mate's Christmas scene I believe. Arrived that way, and going back that way. On the ballast, I'm going to go more with the "finished working", and going for refill, so there won't be much inside it to be fair. 1 1 Quote
Railway Lyons Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 (edited) After getting soaked through coaching U10's girls rugby this morning, I figured staying home and dry, with World Cup on, was a good opportunity to get some more work done on projects. 072 & 079 back for additional cab numbers And finally seeing light of day, one of my kits that has been in the box for years, a MIR bogie fertiliser. Railway Lyons Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Well lads, Here is one I have been thinking about for a while, and all the talk about IRM announcements made me think I needed it done. At least if they announce it in the future, as we wish, mine is almost done. A Bachmann LMS Royal Scot conversion to GS Class 800. Double chimney added, repaint and transfers. Still needs lining, smokebox door to be sorted, and crew, but she is getting there. Might even get lamps on the front. 6 1 Quote
Galteemore Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 That’s a very nice piece of work / good effort on the peculiar 800 class blue/green paint shade too. 2 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Wow! Just awesome! I'll take three, please. Quote
Railway Lyons Posted July 13 Author Posted July 13 Something a little different today. 2nd hand, unused Freightliner green livery body shell, to be repurposed. It had seen a bit of a hard life before...... Stripped of details where possible, light sanding, and primer. Then to blue....starting the transformation to 47 474. Then the yellow face. Once that is all dry and sealed, transfers, light weathering, and onto donor bachmann chassis. 9 Quote
Railway Lyons Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 2 days in a row.....wonders never cease While 47474 takes a rest to cure, some old projects got some time on the bench. A few old Airfix Mk2 geting the orange for my own attempt at Galway livery. Have been blue/grey in a box for 10 or more years. And one with slow progress over the years, but very pertinent to late goings on, my 2700 Arrow. Some small modifications to get doors in right place. Started many years ago, when skills not as good as they might be today, so bit of correction here and there, and some modelling licence. 8 Quote

The right-hand one has a dark grey roof, to match the photo reference I have. Right one still waiting that to be done. Might be the lack of light in my shed making them look black. Railway Lyons Posted July 21 Author Posted July 21 Class 47 project Part 1 complete. Bit of a battering look in the weathering, showing a hard working workhorse. 47474 is now complete, and has met its train to haul, a failed 7 car APT-E. Further rummaging has found a 2nd Class 47, with chassis, for the next part of the project - a RES train. 8 Quote
Railway Lyons Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 Unfortunately the Galways Mk2s didn't go as planned. Finished article just wasn't sitting well with me. Partially my own fault for not going all in on the prep, and the paint got some orange peel and dulled, so it's back to the start and full strip down. Few other items on the bench to keep the mojo going (updates on these in few days), until I can bring myself to reattempt the Mk2s. 2 Quote
