DJ Dangerous Posted October 21, 2023 Author Posted October 21, 2023 Again, just admiring some wagons, no time to run anything, but soon, watch this space, literally! 9 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 Opening the first of FOUR parcels received from forum members these past few months. I have had nowhere to actually safely display the contents of said packages, so let's see if I can come up with anything durable today... Thanks to @Galteemore for this one, exquisite!!!!! @murphaph, @Westcorkrailway and @WRENNEIRE, your time is coming, watch out. 6 1 Quote
Galteemore Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Thanks DJ - glad she made the trip. Although I think front buffer beam may need a tweak, all else seems intact!! 1 Quote

Day off today, at the McDonald's McAuto collecting my McMuffins to carb-load for a boost, then off to IKEA after a vet visit... Let's see if I can generate an appropriate display for such a prestigious piece! Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 Things not exactly going to plan today. Barely have the van loaded, now, at three, and don't rate my chances of having this lot home, unloaded, measured, marked, scored, drilled, cut and assembled before seven, too highly. Will probably have to regroup and fight another day. 2 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 Well, got everything home, unloaded and upstairs, but will probably barely get one of the three finished today. 3 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 Progress is slow. Measurements more or less line up. It doesn't have to be perfect to the mm, as I've built in some redundancy. Made one or two slight tweaks to the measurements over the first unit. Supervisors insist on micro-managing. Even Guapa, the fifteen year old blind supervisor who has to eat via a tube, insists on "getting a feel" for things... 2 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 Still bumbling along. Drill is overheating and burning my hands, which probably doesn't bode well for it's future. Have to let it cool down a few minutes, then get the second panel finished. 2 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 Melty the Drill did the job but I think he's dead, now. Managed to get the two holes cut out either way. Now for assembly. 1 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 Finally feels like we're getting somewhere! 6 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 And we have clearance, Clarence! 5 Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 Sorry, diecasts, but I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycles for the new cabinets. No more fancy glass shelves for you guys. 3 Quote
Galteemore Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 (edited) Fabulous DJ. The A class and Jinty did work Belfast docks at same time in the 50s - nice to see them together again. As you have the only model of an A class in the world (AFAIK), this is a unique assemblage! Edited October 24, 2023 by Galteemore 1 1 Quote

And what a wierd part of the world for the only A Class in the world to end up! Maybe I'll be able to power up the track by the weekend, if I'm lucky. 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 Glass shelves definitely working well here for the O Gauge trucks, need to pilfer two more from the diecasts... 5 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 And that's enough shuffling and shelving for a few days. Really happy with the O Gauge shelves! 5 1 Quote
Bob229 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Great display area for a fine collection, thats where all the containers went 1 Quote

DJ Dangerous Posted October 26, 2023 Author Posted October 26, 2023 Now with the "layout" (I use that term very loosely) clear of everything that has gone into the new IKEA cabinet... Cookham Manor looks on in dismay at the hulking form of a dangerously powerful looking 113 in the distance... 4 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 27, 2023 Author Posted October 27, 2023 Small parcel from @Westcorkrailway arrived there last week. If @leslie10646's new wagons are anything like these (these are not Leslie's), I'll be well happy! 5 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 27, 2023 Author Posted October 27, 2023 And two teasers of the beast lurking behind... This is another one-of-a-kind, thanks to the masterful @murphaph and his patience and skill... 7 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 Gave Cookham Manor a run this evening for the first time. Left it a bit late to do it as I wanted to see the firebox glow, but cocked up and left it too late, so the video is crap. Trying to lighten the video at the moment, so here's a teaser photo in the meantime. 4 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) Hmmmmm, video uploading after trying to brighten it up, but it's not great... But look at that firebox glow, on DC! Edited October 30, 2023 by DJ Dangerous 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 31, 2023 Author Posted October 31, 2023 Murphy Models no. 187 trundling along this morning. Lighting not great, too bright one side and too dark the other, but I have to skip lunchbreak again today and it'll be dark when I finish work, so had to make do. 1 Quote
Bob229 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Stunning Accurascale Loco's, the blue Deltic a favourite 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 Gave 187 another run last night. Crappy lighting again, but it is what it is. 3 Quote
