Interesting John, I read that Minatur Wonderland in Hamburg have not done a UK Scene as the models just wont be up to the stress! I'll look forward to see Dave's Master Piece when its done though!

Lovely Job on the layout Dave. It will be interesting to see the how long the new Modern RTR produced Locos and thier motors will last with the demands with lots of public running on this one.

You will get that lovely burning smell off the brushes.. Ah the romance of 70 era models...

Hi Lads, Any of you lads been on German Rail tours? What are they like compared to UK and Irish ones? Was looking at one from Koln in Feb 2020 to the Harz Mountains. Seems to be an Epic journey starting at 421am an getting back past 1am on the Sunday, Pulled by a Diesel first and then Steam on the Harz which is a place I love to Visit. This is the Website I was looking at.€134 notes for the day, 50 quid return on Ryanair to CGN airport. Pretty Reasonable weekend away. only down side is going the Dublin Airport. https://www.nostalgiezugreisen.de/29-02-2020-auf-in-den-harz-nach-wernigerode-oder-blankenburg-neu/ Experience the wintery resin in its breathtaking beauty! Travel with us in the comfortably heated, pulled by the diesel locomotive 218 455 in the DB look of the 1970s special train "Brocken Hexe" either to Wernigerode or to Blankenburg in the Harz! Probably won't make it this year as we lads are off to Hamburg on the Ran Tan on May the 7th for the Port Anniversary so maybe 2021 with the other half. (mind you when I showed her the Itinery she went FXXK that so good chance it will be a solo run, Result Looking at Frankfurt in Novemeber 2020 though, some good looking Steam tours available.

Bridehurst - SR Region 3rd Rail - Now no more.
Georgeconna replied to Georgeconna's topic in British Outline Modelling
Glacial progress here too. Managed to bang in about 7 cobalts and tidy up the birds nest of wiring I had underneath once I had everything working. I had issues when a short occured and 5 of the cobalts each kept dropping thier addresses. To combat this I stuck is a PSX-1 circuit breaker which came with a Mamoth Manual but it was preset to a certain AMPs to stop the short and hey presto it works too no more lost addresses and the points are now on a seperate bus. Over the week end I buit up the tunnel lining which being on a curve and presented its own problems! When the ballast is laid and the 3rd rail stuck in on this part of the layout the tunnel will be stuck in place and the scenery started on this section first.. I also stuck in some under the track magnets and had some fun with kadees with my 08 and class 24 moving wagons about. all good fun though. -

Evening chaps. whilst off Recovering over the last six weeks I managed to nearly get this done. One of the last kits I bought before I left Marks Models some 5 years ago! I picked up an etched set and a laser cut deck which is the dog you know what. Altogether a nice little model but a lot of Scratch built items to give it that big ship look I will set this into the foam and make a sea dio for it eventually.
