  1. Search on eBay ‘stained glass supplies’ is the cove I buy off. Just add a drop of liquid soap to help it flow
  2. Good job on the soldering. I got fed up with phos acid flux fizzing and spitting everywhere so I now use safety flux that’s meant for stained glass. Works a treat and just washes off nicely with no residue.
  3. Heljan did an RTR AC Cars railbus in O
  4. Agreed. As a ‘might have been’ it’s quite convincing and plausible
  5. I think he operates mainly on Facebook. This is one of his posts with a TPO
  6. Hope this means you are back amongst us Ernie. Great views. Especially the last one, which is a rare angle on the iron goods shed that doesn’t often appear in photos - certainly not as a main feature unobscured by trains!
  7. So sorry to hear this Noel. Prayers and best wishes as you get through this.
  8. Tinplate is great for loco building as long as you can keep the rust off it!
  9. Scope here for a 4 Yorkshiremen sketch….‘Young modellers today, I remember when we had to mine our own brass’. ‘Brass?! - you were lucky. I once had to built a Claud Hamilton in full GER livery with working motion out of gravel I found in’t road’…..
  10. Fabulous - looks like a blast wall between house and garage ! That’s a very fine model.
  11. Yes. Royal Irish Fusilier. Unarmed and alone. Clearly before the IRAs 1956 campaign kicked off !
  12. also a lovely - and rare - segment of a QL class at work
  13. Yes, it almost looks HO beside an OO model! That would be a major rebuild- all you could really salvage from the body would be the sides as you’d need new - or substantially new - roof and ends
  14. Excellent - it’s a particularly fiendish chassis !
  15. Fab Paul. Any chance they might be scalable to 7mm, also door class nos etc?
  16. Off topic but love the clever headboard on that KAM pic! That pic at YR is just what I remember - stuff like that lay mouldering on the sidings for years there.
  17. Logged in to IRRS and had a look. Fabulous pics of Abbeyleix station yard being lifted in 1964 https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53449700965/in/photolist-2pr9doB-2praFWn-2pwo1Lv-2pwC8UG-2pwxcAc-2pwE193-2qEpsuv-2qEwci2-2qUMN3f-2pwCCTC-2pwDq2V-2pwE18X-2qEwc2q
  18. That’s really rather lovely. And your helpful illustrations of how you do things give hope to lesser mortals !
  19. One way is via IRRS archive on Flickr (need to be IRRS member). That often yields such things
  20. Easily done! Generations of children who sat through your comprehension tests will be quietly smiling ! But the point about Worsley statnds / this stuff won’t be around for ever
  21. The horse box may be something to do with Balmoral Show, which happens around that time of year. Sadly all that Google can tell me about the show grounds in 1964 is that the Beatles played there in November !!
  22. Interesting stuff for you there @Mol_PMB! Fab stuff Ernie: shows just what interest there still was to be had in 1964. By this time steam on CIE was all but gone, but NI had a lot to offer ! I think the Larne shot shows stock on the line beyond the level crossing - that section of track is long gone.
