I might do a LLSR of bridge end or Island road in the late 50s using live steam engine that are used on a Z scale models. Only problim is would a Z scale model be able to carry the weight of no4/5?

Unfortunately I did not know him very well. I find it more sad that his friends will be unable to go to his funeral. Very sad a large lost to the hobby and the society. MM

I wonder if there is drawings @David Holman should make a model of it for belmullet as it is such a funny little thing and with David's skill it would be so detailed. When all of this so over I hope he brims one of his layouts to Eire as it would be great to sea it up close.

Did Fry make a model of the Achill thing on wheels?
-
Looks a bit crazy. The Achill railcar ended up like that I think.
-
I know this is not about the point but there is a full size brake van beside the road between Cork - Clonakilty. Has any one else seen it? By the way is there any pics of the side of the brake van as I beleive that one was used on the tramway in cork in the 50s/60s until closure.

You are so right Wjen they closed it down there was a lot of opposition against it. Pity it closed.

N gauge automated layout - Weston Parkway
Midland Man replied to Nick's topic in Irish Model Layouts
Clean work whitch is important for good running. Keep it up -
lovely work will look class when painted.
-
Interesting @Lambeg man My only problim is the front coplings as they are tooooooo massive.
-
I really wanted to model that as a prototype in O gauge after I saw a pic in Railways in Ireland pt3. The line would have got G2 654 Clara working on about 57/58 before it moved to the Loughrea and then the Kilfee branch. Another great model would be the juntion where the SLNCR left the MGWR in the 40s/50s (sorry I forgot the name for the station but remember what it looks like) And @jhb171achill one part I noticed is that there is a point that goes into the so called "building". Thanks for showing the track plan. Who ever mite model this will have great joy in doing so(or maybe I will do so you never know.) The 3 way point is quite interesting a I have only seen it at Buree in Limerick. MM

Looks exellent @JasonB As well as being painted orange they were sometimes painted red instead. Very well built. Keep it up.
-
Lovely model @Noel Are they get kit or are they RTR?
-
The 2600 are one of the wonders of Irish modeling. The reason they are a wonder is that they came in 2 or 3 railcar units but during GAA specials they would use older stock to accommodate more people thus a unit could consist of 7 carriages (not including the original units). This means you mix and match different stock to your fancy. MM

From the tunnel to the end of the main station would make a medium sized little layout. Plus it's in a curved shape so it could be done in about 8ft by4ft I guess.

Imagine if it survived today.
