  1. A lot of there stock is sold out and the stuff they have is not well photographed.
  2. If it was a scam why would they scamming the Irish market? Why wold they target the Irish modelers.
  3. Just a quick update The last post did not look the best and I have been doing a lot of work to the model. I have put supports into the model to make it a lot stronger after that was done I began to put the plaster card on the outside to give the model a concrete feel. Sadly I am low on plaster card and only have scraps of the stuff and is not enough to cover the whole model so more of the stuff will be ordered. As wel as that the waiting shelter at Moate had two windows at each end so those will have to be srcatch built as well. If any one was ever in the shelter (before the green way) please tell me what it was like as I have zero photos/info of inside. MM
  4. It's amazing the price of model engines now a days. A BR 4-6-0 in O gauge can cost €2000! Was there ever a time where there were small company's sell hand made models/kits in Ireland and will it ever come again?
  5. Pics do in the book on the midland but all are in GSR days. They only ran until the 40s I think.
  6. Sounds like you friend is right. The price of Rtr stuff now a days is sometimes outragous. I remember my first model show and seeing the a 2-6-0 train set was €300! One thing I love about the new A class is the price and if they make a C class I will be getting it as they were used on branch lines.
  7. Lovely little platform No offense but a bit small for Portadown junction platforms but you've got the nack to build great looking platform. MM
  8. Yeh I know there was no where to stop but they needed the bigger bunker so they would not stop. Manor street may be a something I will build but will be in early GSR as I would like to model some of the original stock as one engine (number 4) lasted until the 40s!
  9. Note the coal bunker has been made bigger so that engines did no have to stop on there way to Tramore. Looks like it did not stop at all. MM
  10. If there was a Churchyown juntion in OO it would be like that. Looks exellent.
  11. Fabulous work is it O gauge as you mentioned Tony ragg who models in O. I hope we get to sea more of this fabulous layout with terribly good stock and engines.
  12. It looks like something from the north wall indeed. It cart be in the midlands as the cranes does not look like the Breatlan or the Athlone cranes. The is only one bridge that could be double tracked and that is on the Longford side of the station whitch runs into the main Centre of the town. I believe there is a pic of a 2-6-0 on Liffey juntion to Westland row(when the station have all Galway services) track derailed with a Crane like the one above retailing it. If you want to sea the pic it in one of the new IRRS booklets about a topic on accidents on Irish railways.
  13. Welcome back And now for something O!!!!!!!! today I starte the stucture for the waiting shelter at Moate. It a long building being 4100mm long. I now sea why modeling O is so fun. My model of Moate will be for shows as to build it in the house will be impossible due to its size. Mean while no work has been done on the C as I don't want to mess it up with the tools I got. Hope you like the pic of the 'frames' as they will be coved with thin plaster card to give a nicer feel. MM By the way two people have asked for drawings but this was made from measurement I made many a year ago.
  14. When I wether I only wether one side well and make a mess of the other but I don't mind as the layout will be end to end so you will only sea on side
  15. Is it me or are Irish rail people are no the best when documenting paint samples. Thanks @jhb171achill for posting that. A help to all modelers.
  16. Dr E M Pattersons book on the railway has a LOT of track plans. I bought my copy in Galway and last time I was there they had 4 copy's left. To get good books on the topic or on any railway second hand book shops are the best place to get them.
  17. Bell container wagon as there is purple and white lines at the right end of the wagon. You are so right about google maps. They ar Waldo good at do lengths and track plans
  18. Looking exellent. what company's do 36.75mm gauge?
  19. The IRRS were going to do a tour of Portlaoise depot in May but because of cv19 it has been cancelled.
  20. Wow looks so realistic. Was it srcatch built? Will look exellent with the 2-4-2.
  21. He there After thinking over your question if they are the same loco I think that that model from 1940 was scrapped by Mr Fry. Here are my reasons. 1. The year of the magazine is 1940 at the same time WW2 was happening across the pond whitch gave Ireland a shortage of metal an other materials. 2. If fry broke up the engine that mean the model of Meadh may date back to the 40s as he would have probally have saved it as it was his only one. 3. It says that he is from Dundrum. I thought he is from Malihide or maybe it was not even mad by fry in the first place. 4. If it was broken up that mean parts of the engine would have ended up on different engine Si the colection my guess is the 2-8-0 shunter(sorry if I got the wheel arrangement wrong)
  22. It could be Meadh Made by George Hanan built in the 70s I think using proper GSR green that Fry got at Inchicore in the late 30s. More info in model Irish model railways by Alan O Rourke and Steaphen Johnson. Is there any pics of the smoke generator inside Frys models?
