  1. I once again bring on northernblue109s Flickr….I just saw he put up A class in BR black and BR green https://www.flickr.com/photos/northernblue109/ Obviously looks handsome, but it also looks very long versus what are used too!
  2. I always wondered about those splashers. They take up half about the door, nasty drop for anyone who takes a mistep At least they had a nice colour interior
  3. Adams radial arived today and I face a choice. I don’t think I want to loose the nice finish on the southern black (see the finish on my plastic coaches for what new black would be like) and the black looks “enough” like CIE black to pass off. But at the same time, while the boiler and cab get a pass from me, the water tanks and the exposed Splashers giving me a slight pet peeve as “not very prototypical” again this could easily be passed as just another version that dübs made in the 1880s. but for the time being, I don’t know about it.
  4. that was some going, never mind going 105MPH, you would not catch many in the cab today. I don’t see myself hopping into the cab of a mk4 Dvt Dublin bound! Ahh that’s the good old S&S for ya. To be fair if you tried to travel between schull and skibbereen in 2021, the pot holes would have you sick out the window
  5. Am I wierd for thinking of this livery every time I see this livery
  6. And never say never to the Cork & Macroom Direct Railway inspection car the only thing I’d add if your getting a silverfox Hunslet is that you might have to wait a year for RTR as Irish stuff is only made done in October of every year if I’m not mistaken it does line up well with the anticipated mk2 coach release date as well me thinks
  7. Indeed they do. I think anyone anticipating the NIR MK2s if they done already should consider picking up a Silverfox NIR 101. They look the best out of the box and if you do modify it/just build it from scratch. You could do a worthwhile job of a model that likely won’t be offered for Yonks if at all in RTR otherwise!
  8. Might go searching for a 4p on eBay to suit the chassis of a different loco….
  9. I stayed well clear of the Oxford…they look more detailed which tempted me. But they are one of the most famous “Lemon” Locomotives there is.
  10. I see going down to a model club as the chance to see model one can’t obtain/afford ect. Sure sharing is caring and at least being able to see a desirable model running is enough to gawd at. Also a chance for Like lads who have a basic oval (me at the monent) gaining knowledge and skill 1:1 from those with huge interesting layouts or even working on a big “club layout” like who wouldn’t want to see Tara junction in the flesh working away! It also means if you want to start out, you can see the models in person. Dealers such as Dave bracken and Chris dier can hopefully help those in need of a certain model or even searching adverts or eBay for an affordable loco. there might be a stage very soon where 121s, A class and 201 class locomotives will all be in stock for sale on IRM/Marks models website so still big enough variety. Also a chance to see all the other models of the world run and get used to em.
  11. I think I’m the same on the “abuse” of the Adams radial, a beautiful loco in its own right. It might just be a repaint, it might be some plasticard, or as Mike84c suggested. Moving the boiler higher, cutting off the outside cylinder ect!
  12. Some permanent way work on the oval featuring a Swiss Army knife, great western railway wagon and bandon tank no.470 (or at least that’s what Lima would call a bandon tank back in the 1970s!)
  13. A model railway club does not have to be run exclusively on Irish stock similar to Wexford model club. Besides there is more Irish stuff available now then there ever was!
  14. I did always have the idea in my head since I first got Ernie Shepards book. But what got me to act on it was this UTA conversion of the BCDR tank that somone showed me when I suggested them the idea. If I could even get remotely near that, twould be a success
  15. Your talking to the fella who payed €300 for silverfox railcars that needed 2 hours of complete rebuilding to get running and slightly Doesn't regret it
  16. MM201 and next IRM loco (hopefully) will be under €199.99 otherwise I can forget about going to college
  17. Well to be fair it’s still on the website that the 201s are on the way. Granted mr murphy probobly didn’t anticipate the shipping issue we have at the moment back then unless…..a small announcement from IRM is an update on a model they aren’t making
  18. To be fair it took me a good 3 minutes to get it out of my box because the blister Plastic surrounding the loco is was so tightly sealed I didn’t want to put it under pressure as there was a 190 euro loco beneath
  19. A3R was considered a “small announcement The only other thing I remember IRM working on is the footbridge project. I’m sure we will get an update on that In one of the next, oh I don’t know …..15 announcements Just a reminder to everyone that MM might have 201s coming next year…… im going to have to stick to an era or I’ll be skint
  20. These are GSR no.479 (blurry) and 480. These 2 locos are of a set of many different 4-4-2 designs by Dübs and Nielsen for the CBSCR built in the 1890s all of these locos had been withdrawn in the 30s in GSR days. now I’m my head, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to extend the water tank and chop off the outside cylinder on an Adams radial to make GSR 479 or even make this a fictional class, another one of the many versions of the 4-4-2 locos provided by dübs (you can see above the difference between 480 and 479 is considerable) anyways I’ll give it a go. Another fictional class to go alongside my fictional coaches!
  21. Everyone is guilty of that the odd time. Even one of my favourites EUVIRAIL mixed up the A and the C class in term of having an NIR livery. I’ll watch a sams trains video the odd time. Particularly the 3d modelling serious he is doing right now, granted some of the models he makes are shocking but some of them warrant grabbing ideas from
  22. Current order of likelyness in my head “speculations mode on” C class 80 class AEC railcar 22k sulzer Rtr steam re-run of currently existing loco
  23. Idk what transfers those are but ids say it’s not worth the hassle of trying to make them work aside from a sketchy pack of snails I got from eBay, I haven’t had too much trouble with transfers
  24. I heard tommorow were getting Albert quay caravan coach, listowel and ballybunion cattle van, Clayton railcars and models of both dick the horse of fiontona and paddy of Shannonvale. Value pack 2 horses for only €20 (Dcc Ready)
  25. That’s more then 1 announcement per month! what planet are we living on is there any announcement coming this side of Christmas?
